Hi Chance,
You will have to get a job first if you plan to purchase at the other end. Some folks go ahead first to their future destination for a week or two and look for work. You could also rent at the other end after selling here and then start your job search. Some folks find it easier to do it that way because once they find work, then they can find a home that is convenient to work. One thing you will want to keep in mind is that if you are not going to be working in the same line of work that you are working in here, you will have to wait to qualify for a mortgage. In any event, I have 24 years of experience and can help you sort it all out. My company also has a relocation department that you may find helpful with either buying or renting. Please feel free to contact me when you are ready.
Best Regards,
Debra Lawrence

Are you in the city of syracuse? You will need to fill out tax greivance forms. Try to get recent property sale information on similar houses to your. There are several sites to do this. The first one I would try is the County/City site. It is ongov.net
Start there and see what you can do.
