Nothing you write disqualifies you for a mortgage. You need a good credit history, income (it can be a pension, SSI or other investments it doesn't have to be a job) assets and demonstrated character for a lender to believe you will repay the loan.
Find a great local mortgage lender and discuss any concerns you have with them. If they see no red flags, apply and see what you can do. Best of luck!
