The tax rate in Fair Haven is much higher but you get more for your money ..Either Town is great, feels like we are all one family. Fair Haven has that small town feel and Rumson has bigger properties so if you want privacy, Rumson may be a better fit.

The best thing to do is come for a visit and experience the towns . Driving down River Road when the sun is setting coming from the beach with my kids....doesn't get any better.

School will vary depending on the exact address of the property in Locust. Best to check with the agent you are currently working with.

There are no streets in Locust that are part of Rumson. Locust is a part of Midldletown Township that shares the Rumson zip due to the proximity of the Rumson post office.

I just noticed this thread and although it is a bit aged, I thought I would let you know I am the architect who designed the home. Thank you for the compliment. I am very proud of the work there. If you are still in search of a home and need some architectural advice or service, please feel free to call me. I don't charge any fees to review and visit properties that you may be condidering for renovation, addition, or new construction.

I would say it depends on where you are looking to rent. Since you said summer, I am assuming you mean the shore areas. Most of those rentals cost upward of $20,000 for the season going as high as $10,000/wk.

Depending on which shore town, prices have been stable in most, and actually rising (on average) in others. I would take the rent money and put it towards the down payment and purchase something if you find something you like.
