It's all relative Jimmy. What's a high rate? 4%? 5%?? While rates are sure to rise in the near future I don't think the average home buyer is too concerned. They are more concerned with being on good financial footing in order to contemplate a move

There are still a lot of economic variables pointing towards rates staying fairly low. Lot's of red flags in the world economy that could act to keep rates affordable. Consumer confidence is not exactly off the charts. There is crazy stuff going on all over the world, i.e. China and Greece. The stock market is at an all time high and could be headed towards a bubble. All those factors would act to keep rates on the lower end.

The way I see it, some people are always going to buy homes. If the economy is bad, then those who are well capitalized could stand to do very well. If the economy is booming then it might cost folks more for a house or a mortgage but on the flip side they should have more money because that means the job market is probably good and maybe their investments have done better.

I wouldn't by any means say the sky is falling...
