That depends on the lawyer.

The attorneys that I work with, assuming that they haven't done a huge amount of work at that point, will either waive their fee, or will forward any amount owed to the next transaction (assuming that you're going to use them for a new purchase/sale).

Here's an easy way to find out: Ask them.

I live in a neighborhood with a fairly busy road behind me. The negative is that some times of day are pretty busy. There are 18 wheelers that go by. However, the positives out weighed the negatives: 1. We are the last house in a cul-de-sac. 2. We are in an upscale neighbhorhood. 3. Our house has the perfect floorplan with 3 master suites! 4. We are in a school zone and right next to a church so there won't be any commercial building. The speed limit is 45. So, although there is some noise due to traffic that is the ONLY negative to our house! I hope this helps. ... more

New Jersey overall has great schools and many urban, suburban and rural options. Commute is often a big consideration depending on where you're going to work. Many here use the NJ Transit system for commuting into the city, and buying in a "midtown direct" bedroom community is highly desirable. Some major highway corridors to consider are Routes 80, 78, 287, 24,Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, etc. Generally speaking, further west (from the city) is less expensive, but there are exceptions. Parks, medical and community amenities are available almost anywhere, especially around more urban/suburban areas like Morristown.

Good news is you'll likely be more prepared for prices and traffic congestion than if you were coming from a less expensive area. Just be ready for our road's "jug handles." :)

Thank you both for your feedback! We have had the house listed with an agent for a while now, the market is just really slow here. I figured I would give the house swap thing a try, hey you never know! I know Madison/Chatham areas are more expensive, but we are really looking to get as close to the city as we can while still having a yard and a little privacy. If you hear of anyone moving to PA, please let me know I would be happy to send you the info. on our home as well as pictures. Thank you! ... more

Hi Dorothy,

We would need to know the MLS# or address of the home. Even better to schedule an appointment to have a look as the homes often look different on line than in person. Then you could of course see others in Madison as well and learn more about the town. Give me a call on 973-214-5872. I would be happy to help you. Sue ... more
