If your solar system is paid for, you should be able to calculate its value depending on how many years are left on the system under warranty. You will need to sign over your paperwork to the new owner.

If its not paid for yet, ask your installer for that information and how it can be handled.

If you choose to get solar make sure it isn't paid through or added to your property taxes. Most solar companies are pushing leases that sound good upfront because they can be 100% financed but what they fail to tell you is if it's added to your property taxes when you go to sell in 10 years the buyer's lender would need that to be paid off before they'll lend on it. ... more
