I love Marco Island, but I am biased since we live there. It is paradise on earth. Less traffic than Naples (and all of Marco is biking distance and a max of 35 MPH). The island is self contained has 3 grocery stores, 2 Walgreens, 1 CVS. I get about 3 emails a day from their chamber of commerce with things going on like art shows, chocolate/wine tasting, beach activities, etc. It is a small town and you get to know all the locals when you live here. Beaches are beautiful and the 10,000 island views are amazing. Everyone is friendly. There are permanent residents and the kids all ride their bikes to school. It is quaint and just beautiful. There is even a very nice park we walk around every day. Just over the bridge is Naples and they are building more stores there so you don't have to go way into Naples to do serious shopping. Naples malls are close (about 20-30 minutes) and are amazing, but when you go home and go over the bridge to Marco, you immediately relax!

Downsides are that if you are a "mall" shopping person, Naples has more. Naples is more "exclusive" meaning "expensive" than Bonita Springs. Marco pricing may be close to, but a bit lower than Naples. All in all...look at your lifestyle and decide...you can't go wrong living here.

Not knowing your budget or interests, it is difficult to make specific suggestions. South Florida covers a lot of territory. Are you thinking east coast, west coast?

Marco Island beaches on the Gulf of Mexico are public and gorgeous. The problem is that the condo buildings block access to much of the beach. The South Beach access by Cape Marco requires a pass to park your car at the public access and there is also a Residents parking lot exclusively for Marco Island Residents. There are other points to enter the beach through a public access, but once you are on the beach the white sand beaches are public. If you want to look at the Marco Island area and the condos for sale, you can look at our website- www.agent4naples.com. You will be able to see the location for the different buildings on or near the beach access. ... more

For many years, Marco Island was dead quiet during the summer months, but with many homes that are rented out as vacation homes, they are a popular choice for summer vacations for families. Summer is a great time to enjoy the Island, after having lived there for over 6 years, I can tell you that the Summers are a great time. Especially in the restaurant businesses. You will see lots of locals that avoid these establishments during "season". Hav a great time! ... more

Marco Island is a single zipcode, 34145 (34146 is post office boxes) lived there for 6 years and it is really paradise when you cross over the bridge. Many fall in love easily with Marco Island. Homes vary in that they can be inland, water direct and water indirect (meaning you have to go under a bridge to get to the Gulf of Mexico or the Marco River. ... more
