If the listing is not on Trulia with a Realtor representing you, the info is drawn from the auditors site and would need to be change with Mr Mingo's office. If you would like to talk to me about taking care of the listing on your behalf I would welcome a phone call. 614-395-2522 As a licensee, I have a great deal of latitude to correct mistakes immediately, and the corrected info feeds from the MLS and My Sites. The correction with the auditor would still need to be made, but you would have plenty of time to accomplish that! Again, 614.395.2522! ... more

Hi Colindagail,

Look at this web site. It may give you some information that you may find helpful, city-data.com.
Also, have you explored buying a condo or in an area that is 55+ for ownership?

Have you sat down with a Realtor to explore your preferences, wants and needs in a home? If not I would like to respectfully put my self out and ask that you give me a call to see if I would be a good fit for you as your real estate agent.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Paeltz, ABR SFR

Mary, welcome to Columbus! There are many great schools in this area and you can check them all out at Greatschools.net. I just listed a great home in the Dublin school district with 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The best part is the taxes are columbus. I would be more than happy to help you. You can reach me at 614-271-2871 or by e-mail at mlspen@aol.com. Re-locating can be stressful and exciting at the same time. Just don't forget to stop and smell the roses!

Best of Luck

Thanks everyone for all of the replies. A few months ago my post was a bit premature. However, I think I am going to narrow it down to Grandview Heights and Upper Arlington (close to OSU/Grandview). I work in UA and my wife works on South Campus. I am looking for a 3 bedroom town home or house, 4 bedroom would be ideal, or 3 bedrooms with a finished basement that has a bathroom. I also have a 7 pound Shitsu, so a residence that allows dogs would be helpful. Lastly, a garage would be nice and or parking. My move in date would be June 1st or last week of May. I would love to own something but that won't happen for at least 1 -2 years. So renting is he best option right now.

Thanks,

George Pomeroy

Hello Shirley Rauter, as mentioned with the other answers, Columbus, OH and surrounding areas within a 30 minute drive offers several quality neighborhoods. And too agents have to be careful not to "Steer" you in any direction as the term "nice" or "Good" is all in the eye of the beholder. Yet Gauging the quality of neighborhoods can be successfully done with school district ratings, crime stats, demographic reports, job market stability, etc. However, depending on if you are looking for Duplexes to 4 Units homes? There are areas that will offer you the best chance of income potential. Below are further resources to help you in your pursuit.

A Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) takes in many factors which Zillow does not. Zillow uses public records to cross reference features like number of bedrooms, square footage, garage?, etc. These public records may not be up to date. Any home and neighborhood that has not been physically examined cannot be accurately valued. This is the only way to determine how busy street traffic is, where are the schools located, etc. Zillow is not totally useless, however. But Zillow data must be cross checked against other data sourses to gain a complete picture of a neighborhool. ... more

This question comes up quite a bit. The square footage in the basement would not be counted unless it is finished and has two forms of egress. Egress could be a walk-out basement or an egress size window which you could escape through. There is now a section in our local MLS which allows Sellers to advertise square footage which may not be listed on the auditor’s site.
Finished square footage in the basement in any case will have value.
