Read what parents are saying about Rufus King International High SchoolI graduated from this high school a few years back and I honestly couldn’t think of a better fit for me. Students who excelled academically in elementary and middle school were sufficiently challenged through the IB program (note: RKHS does not utilize AP scores, so be weary of that when reviewing this website’s scores). Current and future students/families, especially those involved in the IB program, keep an eye out for burn-out and decreased mental health! The excessive load brought on by some IB courses can take a toll on the student if not handled properly. One of the most important lessons I learned here was to properly manage my time and reach out for help! The best teachers were adamant about challenging the students yet cared about the students’ success, reaching out when they saw someone struggling. Despite a large graduating class, my peers and I were part of a tight knit community. Everybody knew everybody and most were willing to help another out. However, this school was no exception when it came to fighting and other forms of violence, though it was often few and far between. Nevertheless, I am grateful to have attended this school, as I feel that it thoroughly prepared me for university.

Posted by a community member on 3/10/2023Rufus King International High is one of the most prestigious high schools in all of south eastern Wisconsin. It is commonly disrespected for it's academics due to the high concentration of African-American students who attend. King sends many of it's students off to universities other schools in the surrounding area wished their students would attend. It's time for people to wake up and realize what Rufus King is doing. No more need to be closed minded about sending your children to this school for the sole reason that it is in a bad area.
Posted by a community member on 2/11/2018My daughter, class of 2020, loves this school. We believe she is appropriately challenged. Great Schools rating only considers AP classes and rating did not mention or consider the International Baccalaureate program.
Posted by a parent on 2/4/2018Our son is a junior/class of 2019 and he has had an exceptional experience at King. The school offers a variety of extracurricular activities across disciplines - social, musical, fine arts, athletics, past times and more. The community has true diversity and the staff, students and families express a great deal of school spirit. Rufus King IB is an International Baccalaureate school. The students take IB courses NOT AP ones. The Great Schools AP/testing metric makes it appear that King offers no rigor, it is actually required.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmazing school, the teachers are awesome, my son loves it here. Ms Loss is very understanding and cooperative. Even during pandemic, they provided with enough materials to work from home. Reccommend it especially for younger kids. My son was in K4 and he was bullied by a boy in the class and the teache couldn't do much about it so then we complained to ms Loss and we got his class changed. After that my son absolutely loves it here.Parent Review3y ago - Keefe Avenue School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn my personal opinion as a student who goes to Messmer High School, And started going here around my freshman year which was when the pandemic started. The virtual school was more coordinated then the In- person learning and had a better balance at the work that had been assigned to students for my experience. There's overwhelming amounts of work at high expectations assigned in short periods of times that leaves students drained, exhausted, and unmotivated. Furthermore the teachers are okay, It just depends on who you have and if there understanding enough to adapt to what works best for you to learn better as a student but if not your most likely to fail that class. In my experience, the emotional support here is alright but it could always improve the guidance counselors are nice and the overall staff members are neutral at being supportive. They offer lots of courses and chances to earn extra credits and credits you missed if you take the opportunity to take it serious which I find great because it gives students like myself an advantage. However, Messmer is not for everyone. And if you feel like you just want to get through school without high expectation put on you and they're quick to inform your parents of anything you do or something that happens in the school, I would definitely consider another school for you if you can't handle that.Student Review1y ago - Siloah Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don’t necessarily agree with the review below this one. Principal Daniels tries her best to accommodate all children that attend Siloah with her best ability. She is an excellent principal she may have some flaws but no one is perfect and not everyday is a great day. Siloah offers Title 1 to children who are academically struggling and guidance counseling to those who are mentally struggling. Principal Daniels was the one who implemented things like Guidance counseling. Principals that came before her in the years (2018-2020)could care less about about funding stuff like that. She tries her hardest to keep in contact with all families and ensure of children’s safety. These reviews people are writing about her has to come to an end. I personally love Principal Daniels and all she has done for the students of Siloah and her urgency and care for the students and families of Siloah Lutheran School will not go unseen.Parent Review11mo ago - Garden Homes Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love that my daughter feels safe, loved and respected as a part of Garden Homes Lutheran School. The teachers and other staff are genuinely caring and work tirelessly to ensure that the children excel in academics, spiritual and social enrichment. Every child is greeted by name every morning by the principal on another staff member. The discipline, morale and school ethos is unparalleled. I love this school and it will remain close to my heart always.Parent Review8y ago - HOPE Christian School: Semper
