As a parent of a previous student at MCP 36th street I believe this school is doing a phenomenal Job in the Milwaukee area in developing academically sound and character driven scholars. Immediately walking into the learning environment you can see a unique culture that is very distinctive and academically driven. The classroom teachers and administrators are very accommodating in putting their scholars first, adding joy in the classrooms and paving a road to college by opening doors to some of the best high schools in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area.

I have to agree 100% with the previous parent review. The school USED to be so much more. The reputation the school had was one of strict discipline, parent involvement, excellent staff and administration support. These are things of the past!!! Don't get me wrong, the school still has some amazing educators who care, but the school is now being filled with teachers that are straight out of college with little to no experience teaching. They have no sense of control of a classroom, direction to teaching a lesson, or good communication with parents. I think all of the expanding and additional campuses is pushing the qualified teachers out or into other campuses to help them build. The administration is too busy being friends with parents, they fail to do their jobs! There are way too many children in the classrooms being beyond disruptive, and NOTHING is being done. If you're looking for a school with no structure, discipline for disruptive kids, and administration that fails to protect the vision of the school, then you might as well put your child in your neighborhood MPS school! MCP will never be what it used to be with the current administration!

Tremendous decline over the years. Enrollment expansion has diluted the quality greatly. Middle school has suffered the greatest impact. Several kids are allowed to remain who would be better served at an alternative school. Literally a handful of kids are affecting the greater population. Teacher pool is also lacking. The better teachers are quickly promoted or sent to other campuses. While test scores are typically better than MPS that is hardly a measure of success. Very disappointed because I remember when MCP was truly a good school. Now it's just mediocre. Good is all you now is MPS. My older children will be allowed to complete MCP but I will not allow my youngest to stay beyond 3rd grade. Expansion and profit have stifled a once promising institution.

The problems with MPS are almost entirely caused by their inability to impose firm discipline, coupled with the kids and their parents who don't reinforce the necessity of education or impose consequences for academic failure. Charter schools just exacerbate the program by cherry picking the kids with better supposrt systems, and taking money away from the public schools, driving up class sizes and lessening the ability of teachers to get through, especially when you consider that they now are left with a high percentage of kids with behavior problems and a lack of the support structures that instill respect for learning and authority. The charter schools are a significant factor in the cause of failing urban schools, coupled with educational policies that tie their hands from doing what's necessary to improve it. Policies, I might add, that are championed by people behind the charter school/privatized education movement for the very purpose of causing those schools to fail. It's grotesque what they're doing to the institution of public education. I don't blame anyone for sending their kids to a charter school, but I implore you to speak out in favor of ending the need for them

Milwaukee College Prep is One of the best schools in Milwaukee, WI First, We have three different campus and will be adding one more and we are a family Also the teachers give us motivating words everyday and explain everything to us and don"t just give out homework if we didn't learn the lesson. Lastly, we get together every quarter and do things like help fight cancer with cancer patients, or healthy week etc. We have spirit week and dress down day. I have been there since k4 and you learn how to read in the k4.
