Living Wisdom School of Seattle

Our experience has been excellent overall. Our daughter loves school, her teachers and her friends. She is developing a sense of wonder, curiosity and learning overall - including a passion for math and science. Because it is such a small school, we know all the parents, teachers and students, which makes it feel like a family. There are many field trips, art classes, drama classes, wilderness education, music instruction, and curriculum taught in a very creative, hands-on way that holds the children's attention. They are learning to be strong, creative, successful human beings, and for that, I am so grateful.

Administration is not experienced, for example, school had no protocol for lock downs resulting in terrified children when a real lock down was needed. Administration does not do background checks for all staff working with children. Back doors were routinely left unlocked, when I brought this to the director's attention I was rudely told "nothing has happened yet!" Administration is more focused on growing the struggling school instead of actually running it on a daily basis. School uses a questionable curriculum called Education For Life, started by a non educator named J Donald Waters, aka Swami Kriyananda. I suggest potential families research this man as well as Ananda (group that funds this school) thoroughly, I wish I had. My partner and I regret ever sending our child to this school.

I will never change my sons school. I have fallen in love with the teachers, the environment, the after school programs, the summer programs, the school events, and extra curricular activities.... everything!

This is the best school in Washington! I don't even know where to begin with why I think every single person should be lining up at the door for this school! First of all, this school, its staff, and the whole curriculum and philosophy is so kind, personal, compassionate, and dear to my heart! Second of all, I truly believe that if all schools had the Education for Life curriculum this school has to offer, the whole world would be absolutely amazing!I came in to the LWS atmosphere with a child who had, two years prior, been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. She was extremely emotionally disturbed and had many sensory issues since birth. I had homeschooled her, changed her diet, and done everything I could possibly do for her naturally to help her with her condition. All the schools I went to were not the right fit for her. She needed a small classroom, with very loving and patient teachers and staff that would understand her. She needed the Education for Life that was offered at LWS, which paralleled what I was already doing for her at home. And, she needed nature, art, yoga, and joyful songs, all with kids her age! I can't begin to express how LWS was the last part of my daughter's healing path before we, unfortunately, had to move to another state! LWS gave her the confidence she needed to not only function "normally", as society would expect one to, but also made her into the sweetest, most joyful, responsible, and friendly kid! I never had been able to bring this much joy to my daughter, no matter how hard I tried. She needed LWS to heal and by happy! Some amazing things about this school are its trips in nature, its garden, its drama program, its Spanish and French programs, its yoga, its gratitude circle, Heather Knouse and William Breckenridge! William is the most joyful and magnetic guy I have ever met! He just beams with happiness! And, Heather is the best teacher ever! I just adore her!Don’t hesitate in checking out this school! It’s the best!

Our experience with Living Wisdom School has been overall really great! The leadership and teachers are continually looking at ways to improve. The parents we've connected with are very kind and committed. Most of all, our child's confidence, caring nature and love of learning continues to grow. When any struggles have come up, they have been worked through with care and professionalism. Like many schools and businesses in today's climate, there have been a number of changes during our 3 years at LWS, and regardless we are very pleased with the leadership and the direction of the school and how our child is growing and thriving there.
