3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been here for multiple years now. Their current teacher is amazing, and our previous teacher just wasn’t the right fit for our child. They were still a solid teacher that my child enjoyed. I cannot say enough about how fabulous their current teacher is. She is beautifully managing a classroom with 6 kids above grade level and other kids who have just immigrated to the US with limited English. My child has been placed in the AAP program they need, and their teacher is actively seeking the higher curriculum needed. My child loves their classroom. They are grouped by capability with lessons geared to each group. My child does have special needs. I proactively reached out to the school prior to their first school year and everything was well addressed. Their plan has been proactively managed with things added as needed. New things tried when the need arises. My child also faced disciplinary actions. The school communications were great about what happened and how they would be addressing the challenges as they arose. I was never blamed for the behavior, expected to remediate only at home, or not part of the plan. I have been equally impressed with the emphasis on socio-emotional learning. The community is great. My child has several friends and enjoys all the school activities such as the before school programs by the PTA, the community events, and seeing friends within our neighborhood. The SACC program is fabulous as well. The staff is fantastic and dedicated to their students. Finally the rating is what it is for 2 reasons, the highest level of need in the Vienna community (serves the lowest income group) and MRES being the center for special needs in the area. I see this as a positive as a large portion of the school is of a higher socioeconomic class and being exposed to a larger community is a good thing for me.Parent Review5mo ago - Mosby Woods Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has horrible teachers with an exception of a few teachers. The principal will always side with the teachers no matter what. Once in the last 2 weeks of school the teacher gave 5+ projects and even more assignments. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the food is above average. Would never recommend the school.Other Review10mo ago - Oakton Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery poor communication between teachers and parents, not really friendly or caring staffing , other parents may have different experience but my experience with the kindergarten's teacher and staffing was very poor, also education system not good at all, the kindergarten teacher was very demanding and discriminating , I took my kid out and put him on private school and never will recommend this school at all!Parent Review1mo ago - Daniels Run Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daugther just completed 6th grade at Daniel's Run Elementary. She was there for her entire Elementary School education and I can honestly say that Daniel's Run has gone downhill over the past 5 years since the new principal arrived.Earlier on it seemed like the school was more devoted to engaging the kids' curiosity and helping them grow into upstanding citizens. The new principal instead seems to be focused on SOL scores and does nothing to keep the school safe or follow the guidelines on bullying. My daughter has been bullied all of this year by 3 6th grade boys and the most the school would do is talk to the boys and ask them to stop. There was no punishment, the parents were not talked to as far as I am aware, and there was no interaction even when the ringleader beat up a 5th grade boy. Apparently, the goal is to be able to keep their attendence numbers up and by expelling these kids, that would lower their numbers. I am not the only one that has had issues with the principal. If a kid is having trouble learning at the school, he provides no assistance so many parents are pulling their kids out to move them to private schools, which is another way they are keeping their SOL scores up.Parent Review10mo ago - Appletree School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current student at Flint Hill and I love it here! My teachers are always so helpful to answer any questions I have and they explain the material that we are learning very well. They try to teach in a way that we can all understand. Class is mostly fun and we have projects and assignments that are fun and educational.Student Review1mo ago
