Read what parents are saying about Bishop Ireton High Schoolif hell were a place it would be this building. dont go here and dont send your kids here.
Posted by a community member on 1/31/2023School is run very poorly, their "teachers" often talk about how they hate their jobs and how they have no desire to work there.
Posted by a parent on 4/25/2022I can not say enough good things about Bishop Ireton, it is an excellent school with a challenging curriculum and wonderful extra curricular activities, having say that, it is very important for the students to have the right attitude towards hard work and responsibility, an then again, that is to be expected at this point in their lives in order to succeed in their future careers.
Posted by a parent on 4/14/2022I have a daughter there now and one that has graduated. My older daughter was well prepared for college, much more so than a lot of her friends at college. In both my children's cases, we had times where there were some issues we had to work through. Whether a teacher wasn't the best fit or absent with illness & had to play catch up. Both my kids dealt with anxiety. I reached out to the teachers, counselors & the administration. I cannot say enough great things about the support we received. Both my kids had friends, were involved. I experienced the students to be inclusive. I think the teachers genuinely care about the students and about them learning. It was a good experience. No school is perfect and high school is a range of emotions, but my experience of BI was far less drama than friends of mine with kids in public school and quite frankly other private schools. Bullying is not tolerated. Service is stressed. The mean girl drama I witnessed friends deal with did not happen at BI. There's a place for everyone at BI.
Posted by a parent on 1/19/2022widespread anti-gay culture that's pervasive both through students and faculty, administration made aware of this (to their apparent surprise) but chose to push it aside and ignore it for fear of causing controversy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is focused on the lowest performing students. If your child is average or above average then you can expect that their day will be filled with worksheets. The staff also don't work together well. Students aren't grouped for instruction at their. The classroom instruction is what the lowest students are able to do.Parent Review2y ago - Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from Orange County in California and we are overwhelmingly pleased with Jefferson Houston. We see our children thriving. The principal knows and greets all students by their first name! The classes are small allowing teachers to give attentive care. The electives are once a week! In California we were lucky if they had P-E or art twice in a month. And the middle school art program is phenomenal. We highly recommend Jefferson Houston.Parent Review6mo ago - Cameron Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son started Cameron in Kindergarten. He's finishing 4th grade right now. We both really love the experiences he's had at the school, and all of his teachers have been EXCELLENT. It's a shame the school's rating on this site is as low as it is, because it leaves the false impression that they don't provide a high-quality education for the students, which couldn't be more wrong. The school is also really diverse, so it provides a great environment for students to get to know and become friends with other kids from different ethnicities, countries, and cultures. My guess as to why the test scores aren't higher is because quite a few of the students (and their families) don't speak English as their first language, which might cause some communication and understanding difficulties. But it's certainly not because the teachers are of low quality. They have been friendly, patient, and caring every year so far. And the extracurricular activities organized by the PTA (Back to School night, Open House, International Nights, etc.) are a blast! Go Cobras!!! :)Parent Review3y ago - Immanuel Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBurgundy is a remarkable school offering a comprehensive progressive education, supported by caring, engaged, and talented teachers and administrative staff. My son is thriving at BCDS - academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. We are very pleased with our decision to send him there and see significant returns on our investment across all hard and soft childhood development indicators. Burgundy offers much more than an excellent box-checked education; it enriches the childhood and learning experiences of its students. Pedagogy is purposefully tailored to take advantage of the school's natural endowment (25 acres of school campus, excluding the recent addition of the neighboring Burgundy stables purchased in 2022, and over 600 acres at 'the Cove', BCDS's remote learning campus in West Virginia), opportunities for peer learning and collaboration, and learning through play. No education experience is perfect, but I have been impressed by the school's responsiveness when we have raised concerns or leveled complaints to the administration. The school has demonstrated a positive problem-solving attitude, working with my family to proactively address concerns and remedy missteps. My son has some atypical challenges. Burgundy has been extremely accommodating of his needs and facilitates his full participation in the school's robust physical life. My son loves going to school and routinely complains that he doesn't want to leave when we arrive at pickup. The voluminous sand that emanates from his shoes and random bandaids that appear on his body is a testament to outdoor childhood experiences increasingly rare in large metro areas. I look forward to continuing our educational journey with the BCDS community, particularly the offline (no screens) learning facilitated at the Cove - a thread of Burgundy experience and enrichment that deepens with age.Parent Review4mo ago - Browne Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Browne academy for the past 4 years. It has been nothing short of amazing. Our son has grown and thrived in a supportive and challenging environment. He gets special support a few times a week in their guided study program and it has been a game changer for him. It’s helped him with executive function and how he learns best. The teachers are all very committed and the parents are warm and welcoming.Parent Review5mo ago - St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School
