Posted by a parent on 5/2/2018We are a very Christian School. We pray all the time. We listen to our students. Small class room. One on One help. . Please visit our About the ACE PACEs Program Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum has Scripture as its foundation, fully integrating biblical principles, wisdom, and character-building concepts into education. Students move at their own speed through the self-instructional "PACE" workbooks. Following the mastery approach, PACEs are formatted for students to complete the exercises found throughout the workbook, take a practice "self test," and conclude with a "final test" (torn out from the center) to measure understanding. PACEs are numbered, with each subject generally covering 12 PACEs; the PACE numbers increase numerically as grades progress. Answers are in the sold-separately SCORE Key booklet sets, whose numbers correspond to the student workbook PACEs. Thank you , Pat Cook
Posted by a teacher on 1/11/2015Horrible school. The place is a broken down mess, the teachers actually make the kids clean for a whole period. The work they give you is below the states standerds. My friend graduated here and tried to apply for MSU and they turned her down and told her she had to get a GED and take basics just to apply again.
Posted by a community member on 3/13/2014This is the second year that my children have gone to BBCS, and the turn around - especially in my youngest - has been profound. My 8 year old is a typical boy; fidgety, a little careless, but he's a smart kid who will get an education wherever he goes. With the guidance of BBCS, he has progressed both in his strengths and his weaknesses, as well as improving his work habits. My little one was very asocial when he started at BICS - ASD, a little aggressive, not the best listener in the world... his teacher is a gem. I am less concerned about academics; he knew his numbers and letters before starting PreK. Now he can follow directions and be part of a group and he is almost never aggressive (although he still plays rough and tumble, he doesn't hit others). He is becoming more KIND. AND he's still on grade level in curriculum, etc.. Suffice to say, BBCS is not for everyone. They have some rules that make me pull my hair out sometimes, and the principal makes me crazy sometimes with her typos... but the heart is there, in the principal and in the teachers, and academic product is at least as good as the average public school curriculum.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal and teachers are amazing! This school truly feels like a family, and they will do everything they can to ensure every child succeeds. My son has severe ADHD with a lot of additional issues, and they have been so wonderful with him!Other Review7y ago - Lamar Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love this school for my two girls. We moved here in 2015 and my oldest was going into first grade, we are now in our 4th year here and my oldest is in 4th grade and my youngest is in 2nd. I have nothing but good things to say about Ben Milam. Due to the diverse school population, I think the school makes great strides to make all students feel comfortable and safe. Within the last two years, there has been a new principal and she has been a fantastic addition to the school and its staff. There are a variety of clubs for the kids to join and my girls have taken advantage of all of them! My youngest was having trouble reading and I asked to have her tested for dyslexia and had nothing but support from her teacher, the asst principal as well as other teachers at the school. Both of my girls enjoy school, have a lot of fun in the special classes (PE, Library, Computers and Art). I am happy they have a good educational base as we are moving on to our next base. I would recommend this school.Parent Review5y ago - Washington-Jackson El Magnet

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe heard a lot of great things about this school and were terribly disappointed. We applied for their first responder discount they advertise and we were rejected because we are a volunteer and not paid. I feel like them doing that is disheartening and prejudice. Volunteers deserve ALOT of praise for saving lives without any sort of compensation and then when you try to get a discount you are rejected because you are not considered a first responder in their eyes? Despite being rejected for being a first responder we sent our child here. From the very beginning we had issues that progressed as the year went on. The issues were even addressed with the staff and didn't see any improvement. Elementary school should be a fun learning environment not be stressful for your child. Also after putting my child back into public school they were extremely behind in all of their academic classes. I wish you all the best on you or your child's journey finding a school but I would definitely stay away from here. If you do send your child here I hope that you have a better experience than we did. Thanks!Parent Review4y ago
