Read what parents are saying about Talkington School For Young WomenThe smaller nature of Talkington creates a community and forms life long relationships. The teachers get to know you personally and like to know how your life is both inside and outside of school. I can go back to teachers i’ve had a say hi and just talk to them. I transferred to Talkington in 2020. At my previous school, I didn’t feel like I wasn’t being callenged, cared about, or given chances to know who my teachers were. To them I was another number. Talkington is 100% the best school in Lubbock, not just because of test scores or a rank given by the state or nation, but because the teachers care. Not only is it more academically challenging, but the tutorial and growth opportunities are abundant. If you fail a test, 90% of teachers will require you to correct your test or retake it, making sure you understand the material. Instead of striving for the best grades at Talkington, most strive to learn more. Talkington is one of the most diverse highschools (and middle schools) in Lubbock. Some may not come to Talkington because it’s all girls, but there is a sufficient amount of opportunities to interact and experience a “normal highschool” at Talkington there is an 8th grade banquet (no outside guests), a homecoming dance (9-12 graders), and prom ( 11&12th grades)(both requiring guests & dates to be approved by the school admins). In terms of sports, Talkington has volleyball, basketball, track, field, crosscountry, & cheer. However in highschool, other sports such as swim & tennis can be played for other LISD schools circumstantially. Talkington is a great school and I strongly recommend any young girl in Lubbock to attend.
Posted by a student on 9/3/2022We sincerely love Talkington School for Young Women Leaders. My daughter has the opportunity to not only enjoy the arts such as choir & piano but they also have a very dedicated robotics teacher. Mr. Rodriguez is amazing in getting girls so hyped about robotics and seeing the dedication Mr. Rodriguez puts into the program is so comforting to parents in knowing our girls are learning the tools to excel in a field that is mostly dominated by males. Mrs. Berta Fogerson is a wonderful principal and I am very confident all of our girls at Talkington get treated with respect and are given the tools for college preparedness and to develop their leadership qualities. I could go on and on about all of the teachers and coaches at Talkington but I will summarize by saying I am so very happy with our decision to have my daughter attending Talkington and love how safe we feel knowing she is safe at the school and no drama issues.

Posted by a parent on 12/2/2014Going to talkington was the best decision I have made. The teachers are great with the students and help them with anything. The principal is very kind but firm. The students are friendly and very welcoming. It was not hard making friends here at all.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy girls have been going to this school for years! I love the faculty and the way they make us feel so welcomed! The teachers are amazing and care deeply for all of the student's education and progress. I receive weekly and monthly notices when my girls have done something great or when they are struggling along with the teacher's plan on how they will help in this area where improvement is needed. I recommend this school to all parents!Other Review7y ago - Wright Elementary School
