Read what parents are saying about Space Center IntermediateThis is the worst school ever. The students misbehave and have no consequences for how they act. The Teachers give the students so many chances. The theatre teacher is especially rude, she also try's to be funny, but she not. Also the office ladies are so freaking rude! They always snap at me when I go in there to pick something up. The principle is a snob, she doesn't do anything about the problems at this school. In fact, all the principles turn their heads when someone tells them there has been sex in the restrooms. They think they know what the problems are but they don't. This year I requested for a schedule change at the end of the semester and they told me they couldn't do anything about it. That's a lie. several other kids got changes in the MIDDLE of the semester. They don't want to make life harder for themselves. That means that if you have a problem and they can fix it, they aren't going to do it because it makes them work. Also at lunch all of them yell in the microphone at the same time. Ever since I've been here, my mental health has gone down. Keep your kid out of Space Center. This school has, drugs, vapes, and sex, and no one does anything about it.
Posted by a student on 12/6/2023Son has been going to this school for two years now and he has never enjoyed school so much before. The teachers are great
Posted by a parent on 5/3/2022I was an OMEGA student for 3 years. First, the academics were under par. There is an extreme grade inflation where the teachers give A's easily. I got straight A's solely because of this. However I remember having to deal with specific very unprofessional teachers, teachers who didn't care about their jobs and cared more about telling stories about their personal life or being a coach, and the list goes on. I took the highest classes available and still felt inadequately prepared for some classes in high school. Second, the economic and social diversity is incredibly disappointing. Yes there are students with a lower income background and students with a higher income background, but there was no mixing whatsoever and the OMEGA program only reinforced it. You could clearly see a racial+economic split and there was no encouragement to try and fix it. Third, this school is so overpopulated that it was so difficult to walk through hallways without feeling invaded. In fact, none of us were allowed to wear backpacks because it would take up too much room. Overall I do not recommend this school and there are many problems needed to be fixed.
Posted by a community member on 8/11/2014This school is great for SOME people. I really liked most things about this school such as athletics and academics. I was in the OMEGA program all 3 years and took PreAP everything else and most of my teachers were great. This school has room for improvement in several areas such as projects. I got a lot of projects and sometimes (but not all the time) teachers weren't very willing to help. I would have questions and to answer those questions they would give us guidelines which didn't help AT ALL!! Literally none of the requirements would even made sense. Another problem this school has, and why it is only great for some people, is that some of the students tend to shun other students that aren't the same as they are. I was one of the popular, athletic guys so I didn't notice at the time, but thinking back on it some of the people in my social group weren't very nice to less popular people. The "preps" and the ghetto kids really never got along and could be pretty mean at times. Many of the people in advanced classes, myself included, lived in Bay Oaks and had money and looked down on those that didn't have money because we thought they weren't as good as we were.
Posted by a community member on 8/6/2013An excellent mix of academic, athletic, and fine arts. The school does draw from the spectrum of parent backgrounds - from lower economic to very accomplished economic backgrounds so the students bring that to class with them. The advanced academic classes are primarily students who's parents are comfortable, the students there have all of the most recent electronics for instance. The teachers are somewhat aware of this and try to encourage the students to get along. The facilities are very good and classes have supplies they need. The music programs are excellent.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is an amazing school. They have over 20 clubs for students to be a part of outside of the school day. They have recently added a STEM lab and Maker Space for students to explore beyond the curriculum and students have an option of choosing projects they would like to do to learn more about something they are interested in. Teachers are great with students and the administrators are very supportive too. Great community school!Other Review7y ago - Margaret S Mcwhirter Elementary School

All the teachers and staff have been beyond wonderful and do an amazing job of creating a safe and fun environment for kids to learn. My family is so grateful for this school!Parent Review7y ago - G. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was in special education from kinder and 1st there in general classroom setting. Putting him in this school was such a horrible experience. I couldn't move him to a school out of zone unless the other school approved and since my son is not average, of course no other school wanted to take him. We were stuck here until I finally had to move homes to get him in a different zone. The people in charge here might act nice to your face but anytime I brought up a problem the principal and assistant principal would get rude and get an attitude. They were not following recommendations of my son's IEP which is sad. They complain about the problems but then don't want to follow the recommendations from his evaluation of things he needed to help him succeed in school. They would lock him up in a room in the office sometimes for hours. All the parents were invited for Thanksgiving lunch, when I got there my son was not with his class, it took me a while to find out he was sitting in a separate desk by himself facing the wall during Thanksgiving lunch and the reason for him being there was ridiculous. They would make him eat lunch in the room in the office by himself, this is a kindergartener. He hated going to school he would cry, it was horrible. He was severely behind and all of his academics. They refuse to think it was a good idea to make a behavior intervention plan even though his behavior was putting them in the office all day and he would not be able to learn like that. Again dealing with the principles was a horrible experience and I am so glad that we are finally in a new school that is actually trying to help him and is catching him up now. If you have an average child this might be an okay school, if your child has any kind of special needs I do not recommend for you to go to the school. Just look at the info it says here on this page and it will show you.Parent Review6y ago - Falcon Pass Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child was bullied by their teacher at this school. We did not know such a thing could happen in a Christian school, but at this one it does. This teacher not only bullied our child, she allowed their classmates to participate, and often tried to pull in fellow teachers to excuse her behavior. Thank God there are honest teachers out there who wouldn't corroborate her lies. This is, essentially, how we found out. When we went to the ECEC Director, Callie Edwards, and the Principal (or Headmaster, as he prefers to be titled), Chris Yates, we were met with a coldness we had never experienced before. We promptly removed our child from that school. If you are a parent who wants your child to feel loved and cared for, then DO NOT send them to WCA. We have met some really good teachers, but it only takes a few to spoil the bunch, especially where something as serious as teacher-bullying occurs. Only send your child here if you plan on working here, because then your child will become a "favorite" and are treated well. If you do not work here, and your child attends here, be careful, and trust your gut. If something doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't. Check on your child as often as you can so you can see how they are really treated after drop-off, when the charade is over. If you have not already enrolled your child here, then run for the hills. Find a school where they will be treated as you'd expect in a Christian school. This is NOT that school. Good luck and God bless.Parent Review7y ago - Bay Area Montessori House

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was bullied for an entire year with no contact from the school to any parents. It was known there were issues with the child who was bullying but the approach was "keep issues handled in the classroom." A culture of silence is created due to poor communication and transparency. The elementary educator is simultaneously the administrator of the school and the Board consists of her husband and father. There is not adequate staffing to support the needs of the educators. No front desk receptionist in the morning unless classroom assistants were pulled from their post to answer phones. Parents are not notified of major changes i.e. staff changes and assistants not working full time or lack of consistent presence of assistants in the classroom. There are also parents (not on staff) who come in to fill the gaps here and there and there is never any communication about who is in the classroom, when and why. Both my children came home one day alarmed and shared that they saw a boy in the classroom inappropriately touching another child. When I let the school know, the elementary directress told me that she told my son "what you see is not always what is" and that she would not be contacting parents. My child also came home with severe bruising on his leg and shared that a boy in anger kicked him on the playground. I contacted the school and the elementary educator/ administrator informed me that she forgot to tell me.My children were also allowed to get in the car with someone I had not authorized for pickup. I forgot to let the school know that day. They never contacted me to check, they just let my kids get in the car with another parent's father. I also had no real way of measuring their progress in the elementary class. The educator would tell me that is "all in her head".Parent Review2y ago - Bayside Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is phenomenal. The small family-like environment lends itself to meaningful learning. Teachers and staff genuinely care for student well being. The school has adopted a wonderful initiative working towards diversity and inclusion. The small class ratios and teacher flexibility are almost unheard of in any school setting, making it great for students who have various learning difficulties. One of my kids is neurodiverse and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. I'm proud to say my children attend St. Thomas.Parent Review2y ago
