Read what parents are saying about Blue Ridge Elementary SchoolDon’t let the overall rating of this school fool you. Since my child has been enrolled, there has been a slew of emotional, mental, or physical abuse reported to me weekly. Many of the children are foul mouthed and ill-mannered with terrible attitudes and it seems like the adults (except for maybe a few teachers who are overwhelmingly trying to do their best) here condone, overlook, or empower bullying. The overall environment is not a conducive learning environment (as correctly indicated by the performance stats).
Posted by a parent on 3/1/2022I have two boys attending here. I chose this school because it was near my parents house. I was nervous because the school is not in the best area, but he teachers here and the new principal really focus on the children. My youngest is a little bit more difficult than my oldest to teach and he really has improved his reading. With my home reinforcement and the teaching at school, my children have really excelled here. I definitely have recommended this school to the rest of my family.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school goes above and beyond for their students. It starts with the school leader and Principal Williams is the best! He truly cares for the students, staff, and the community. My child is excited to go to school and learn. She also loves her teachers. Every school may has some issues that we may not know about, but I can say that at Hunters Glen they love their students, push them towards success and look at the whole child. Also, this past school year, they received an A rating from TEA.Parent Review1y ago - Rosa Parks Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is my 5th week here at RPE and I am weary. When I saw parent reviews saying that the school was unorganized I wrote it off as pettiness, but I was wrong to do that. This school year, we have welcomed 23 new staff members, myself included. This school has had its 5th principal in 5 years apparently, I'm not sure how true this is. Every day I understand more why the turnover at this school is so high. Communication between admin and faculty is unclear, then teachers are blamed for the missteps as a result of a lack of foresight. For example, I asked for clarification about SPED paperwork, which I understand is important as a federal requirement. This led to multiple case managers interrupting my class to highlight and confirm that I had received said paperwork, and a last-minute meeting held after school about how to do accommodation logs. It is ridiculous to call a meeting at 3:00 pm that could have been an email. We are adults who have commitments outside of school. As I type this I've been informed that another staff meeting will be held after school today. There are just entirely too many meetings that cut into our planning time, which means we have to work outside of our paid hours to plan lessons. Other professions are not expected to take work home with them every day and on weekends. The issues do not end here. The carpool line is inefficient. New requirements and deadlines are given to teachers every day with little to no specification on how it should be done. There is a culture of nonchalance among the veteran teachers here, they seem comfortable with the mediocrity that is this school. I adore the children and love working with them, but the lack of organization, poor communication, and mountains of paperwork has made a stressful work environment for me that I'm not sure I can handle for much longer.Teacher Review1y ago - Grissom Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at this school was absolutely AWESOME!! This school was not only a place of employment, but it was a close nit family oriented school within the community and among the staff. This school makes me feel like the sitcom "CHEERS" I wanna goooo where everyone knows my name. The staff is so loving and understanding as well as knowledgeable. We achieved so much more because we worked together on one accord to accomplish the tasks at hand. Mrs. Kiser is an impactful leader whom motivates the students to strive for success daily. Mrs. Moore is a great listener, and great teacher in which she continues to bring joy in the classroom. I really appreciate Ms. RAYFORD for the inspiration and motivation that shed light into my situations. She motivates students, and encourages them while bringing excitement to the classroom. Nurse Dones is very sincere, trustworthy and hard working nurse who is great at what she does. The ancillary team are AMAZING!!!!! I want to give a shout out to Coach Cornell, Ms. Blackwell, Mrs. Simmons, annnnd MR. Makoge for all the hard work and dedication they pour out! They made my day enjoyable ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY! Ms. A in PALS class for having the ideal model classroom setup showing education in motion. There are so many things I can talk about, but most people forget those small things that really matters. I am thankful for the journey I experienced at Grissom. They always will be my Grissom family.Teacher Review3mo ago - Windsor Village Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school itself is great but the school does LITTLE about bullying. They punish the children BEING bullied as opposed to children doing the BULLING. I understand bullys are everywhere and kids are kids but as a parent coming with receipts about the incident and still nothing from the other parents, I now how to go to extreme measures just to get a point across.Parent Review3w ago - Whispering Hope Christian Academy
