Experiences at McWhorter have been positive due to our ability to address the needs of both students and families. Through our many programs, we have been able to support students in their socio-emotional and academic needs. McWhorter is truly a family and it is apparent by our outreach when families and students have unique needs. At McWhorter excellence is an expectation!

Posted by a parent on 1/22/2020Please beware. This school is extremely unsafe. My daughter is going through counseling right now due to this school. She was touched during nap time. They don't care about keeping your kids safe. They allow the students in Pre K to lay all together on the floor WITHOUT any kind of mats and unsupervised. The school had failed to help her get counseling or any kind of help at that. No one has been held accountable for their actions in the incident. A few weeks before her being touched when I picked her up at the end of the day she was covered in diarrhea and the teacher didn't even notice. You could tell it had been on her for a long time because it was dried up. Do not trust this place with your kids.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEach year we have been at Mitchell, I have been increasingly happy with the instruction my child has received. Our teachers have been fantastic and always go above and beyond. The Principals are caring, kind, and there to support the level of success for all of our students. In the last year and a half it has become a bilingual campus, and I love that my child has the opportunity to learn about different cultures and languages as well. There is such an overwhelming sense of community here, and the PTA offers lots of events and volunteer opportunities to meet other families in our area. We have made lots of forever friends here! So happy that we chose to go here and be a part of PISD.Parent Review2mo ago - Mckamy Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had all my children and two of my grandchildren go through Furneaux. The first class was in 1982. My son is in first group of students. Even with their low scores it does not mean the school is not a success. Being in the neighbor hood from the beginning many students are rising stars. Testing does not show the true results. The school is run with awesome leadership and hard working teachers. They instill all students to be leaders and everyone can learn. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis year has been the worst experience. My child started 3rd grade with 3 teachers. One for home room and math, one for science and social studies and one for reading and language arts. The science and social studies teacher was taken from 3rd grade and moved to 5th. This left the 3rd graders with no one teaching them these subjects. After receiving several progress reports and a report card with missing grades, I reached out to his hometown teacher several times. There was no response or communication. I then reached out to his reading teacher only to find out his homework teacher/math teacher has resigned. Now he is left with just the reading and language arts teacher. There was no proper communication. My son still has missing grades but yet he is expected to take these tests and pass. This is not setting my child up for success. This is a set up for failure. It’s extremely frustrating. I will move to avoid him having to attend this school next year.Parent Review1y ago - Prestonwood Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrestonwood Christian Academy left me profoundly disappointed. The school neglected students with depression and other mental health issues, while parents and students fostered an exclusive and judgmental environment. Some teachers engaged in gossip, racism, and inappropriate behavior, creating a toxic atmosphere. Caution is advised, especially with one religion teacher who consistently makes mean-spirited jokes. It's disheartening to witness hypocrisy among staff, students, and parents who claim Christianity but fail to uphold its principles.Other Review10mo ago - Prince Of Peace Christian School

The teachers and faculty are fantastic, the Christ-centered education is unmatched, the commitment to excellence is evident and they have truly made us feel right at home.
