Read what parents are saying about Jenks Abram SchoolAccording to PSSA test website, their score better than what it has here. I believe the data in Great School are from about 10 years ago, needs update. Located in and serving for peaceful neighborhood by lots of responsible teachers and staff, definitely it is one of great schools in the city. The only pity is that it only has K-5.
Posted by a parent on 10/11/2022This is one of the best school in town. Less reviews are available but I can assure anyone that here, the principal, staff, teachers all are fully dedicated towards kids learning. Parents involvement is the best part. School is best for Maths, reading, science, digital literacy etc. after school clubs are the best part. there are so many things about this school. Its a hidden gem in the area. there are some other schools in Philadelphia which are hyped due to their huge funding and may be infrastructure but this gem has everything one must consider despite of its not that huge funding!
Posted by a parent on 9/18/2022My daughters are going into first grade at Jenks. Our experience has been exceptional. The principal and teachers are caring and top notch, the academics are challenging (my Kindergartners were reading at a second grade level by the time the year ended), and the Home and School is very active. The school asks a lot of parents, which is what I believe makes it such a great school. I considered a charter but decided to give Jenks a try through family members with direct experience and I am very glad I did. It's also one of the top performing schools in our district, despite the low score here (I blame the SDP for that, though). Great school, truly.
Posted by a parent on 7/27/2012I absolutely love this school. There are both committed teachers and parents, which make everything work
Posted by a parent on 4/4/2011Great school, principal not the same as a few years ago, Ms. Chestnut is great, very caring and doesn't show favortism. My grandchild is in 1st grade and came from a catholic school, where favortism was constantly shown, plus public school is more advanced and you can get all the help you need, not be pushed to the side.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers were very nice and seemed to care about my son, who was in the younger kids room. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to know how to handle toddler frustration. My son has bitten a few times, and their only solution was to berate my husband for it. No solutions involving helping my son to communicate better, or giving him more stimulating activities. No acknowledgement that this is normal behavior for a 2-year-old. I don't think anyone there is certified or has child development experience. It's basically just babysitting. Today they kicked my son out, on a Thursday, said he can't come back again. No grace period, no warning, and we lose a day's worth of childcare that we paid for. ALSO MANY OTHER THINGS to complain about! We pay tuition, and yet are asked to bring paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and hand sanitizer to class. They give them pizza for lunch on Fridays, that I have to pay extra for every week. Why don't they just put those expenses into the tuition? Is that because they don't want it on record, on their taxes? Also this is a christian school and they teach that homosexuality is a sin. It bothered us but he's so young it doesn't matter yet.Parent Review7y ago - St Monica School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to work with contracting services amongst OLOH and the teachers. Students are fine-most staff are truly friendly. Though during my time there, the principal was very rude towards her superiors. She’d have tantrums throughout the day going up and down. Her treatment towards the children was mediocre. She’d yell if kids had to use the bathroom, didn't have books covered, and if they weren’t silent in the lunchroom until they were told to be spoken too. Being a catholic school, OLOH struggles to be innovative and lacks a true administration team. It is ran by one principal and one assistant, who both lack a pleasant nor friendly demeanor. Public schools offer more than the services Catholic schools offer in terms of special education services. The fact that even the staff speak behind the principals back on how atrocious she can be, speaks volumes. OLOH needs a huge revamp in terms of administration and innovation. Out of all the Catholic schools in Philadelphia-I’d never consider for one moment, to have my children walk through those doors.Other Review6mo ago
