Read what parents are saying about Hope Christian School Of HanoverMy parents enrolled me in this school from 8th grade to graduation. The school is more focused on religion than academics in every way, to the point where it is educationally destructive. Classes like web design have entire periods dedicated to watching sermons and memorizing verses. All software used in classes are outdated by over a decade, which is a real issue when you have three high school classes dedicated to teaching Microsoft Office 2010. There are very little to no electives to choose from. Speech and band are two of the only ones, aside from clothing construction, which is only for girls (because God forbid, men learn to sew). There are very few teachers here, so they are forced to take on more classes than they are qualified to teach. They are constantly stressed out, resulting in a negative effect on their students, who are constantly exposed to a suppressive atmosphere. I have multiple examples of being called out in Bible class for smiling, and I know someone who got kicked out of chapel for looking down at his Bible while the principal was talking. Teachers and authority figures are usually congenial, but only if you agree with them. In any other case, they become un-approachable and demeaning. Alumni are looked down on if they don't attend religious Baptist colleges like Bob Jones or Maranatha Baptist University after graduation.Teachers encourage a far-right way of thinking, and look down on people who have political stances anywhere from mid-conservative to left. The high school Bible teacher will bring up the latest conservative news in tangential monologues during class. I've personally heard teachers encourage women to stay in the kitchen, and use condescending language toward immigrants and minorities. Evolutionists are called "stupid," hell-bound, and un-scientific. They are EXTREMELY anti-LGBTQ, no question. Try getting your gay son or daughter into this school...All staff are very legalistic (despite claiming they're not), and will chastise students for listening to anything other than classical music or hymns. Even contemporary Christian music is prohibited for having "satanic" electric instruments and drum tracks. I had a quote taken off of my locker because it was sourced from an upbeat Switchfoot song.In the way of safety, a current student says they haven't held a fire drill since 2022. Security doors are broken and sometimes remain open and unlocked when they shouldn't be.Keep your kids far away from this school.
Posted by a community member on 3/5/2024We have three children enrolled in Hope Christian, each with very different needs and learning abilities. It has been a great blessing to see both the teachers and the administration work to reach each of our children and develop their potential. All of the teachers that have worked with our special needs child have been attentive, flexible, and effective. Volunteers have been committed and caring. We are very thankful that the Lord has established HCS in the area.
Posted by a parent on 1/17/2013Our daughter is in kindergarten at Hope Christian School and we are amazed at how much she has learned -- both on the academic and the Christian side. While this is a newer school, its attendance is growing every year, which is a very positive sign. While the public schools cut back on programs like music and art, Hope emphasizes them to help develop the student fully. Our family loves Hope Christian School and we look forward to seeing our daughter graduate from there in the Class of '24!

We have a wonderful principle (Mr. Smale) and we have finished a huge renovation of the building. The teachers always make you feel welcome and are so approachable. My three kids have wonderful things to say about their time at this school.Parent Review9y ago - Washington El School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has special needs and I have to say that this school has done an excellent job accommodating him. I can't say enough good things about the teaching staff and special education department. My son's personal care attendant has helped him grow academically and socially. The students also have been very accepting. I really am so thankful my son is at this school.Parent Review9y ago - Hanover Middle School
