Bald Eagle Area Junior-Senior High School

Really wish things would change. Not good

My husband, father, and self are all BEA graduates. I had an exceptionally wonderful experience at Bald Eagle, graduating with high honors. My husband was an athlete and did just as well, graduating a few years prior. My father, his class valedictorian, was dual enrolled in vo-tech and honors courses at BEA. I recommend this district to anyone. It's safe. There were never any crime issues within the student body or faculty. Over a course of 6 years (7th-12th grade), I experienced 2 bomb threats, in 7th and 8th grades. The students were quickly relocated and everything was handled with the utmost sensitivity and security. Teachers are there to teach and as a few will befriend students, their jobs are to educate not become a buddy. Being involved in 27 scholastic/academic activities, extracurriculars, programs, and clubs, I worked with nearly every teacher in the Middle-Senior High School, and never had an issue. In recent years, there have been administration changes mostly for the better. The only downfall of the district is sending 6th graders to the high school to participate in the middle school program. Although I haven't seen it first hand, one can only imagine there is some run ins with older students, as the program was initially supposed to keep middle school students separated. Overall, it was a fantastic school for academics and athletics. I highly recommend the district!

My experience with this school over the years has been nothing but horrible. They have a terrible bullying issue that is not dealt with well at all, and in many cases there are a handful of teachers that bully as much as some of the kids do. The education is nothing to write home about either...sorry...to say the least. It is run by a bunch of know it alls that are always right and you are always wrong...until you fight and prove them wrong...in the mean time they love to treat people like they are stupid. Personally...I wouldn't wish that place on a dog. It half kills me to even rate them with one star.

The students are well-mannered at BEA, mostly, and the facilities are top-notch. My children graduated from Bald Eagle and I am very pleased with the education they received there, as they all went on to graduate from college and are now successful adults. I think the teachers and the administrators there do really care about ALL the students, and the school is small enough so no child gets "lost in the shuffle."
