Read what parents are saying about Edison High SchoolThis school is awesome. It's a small community. The classrooms have a small amount of students in each class. The adults are great here.
Posted by a parent on 10/15/2021A s a parent of a former student, this is the school for any parents looking for a conservative, Christian and non-diverse environment for their child with learning differences who has no other option. All Edison parents have seen their child struggle through K-8 grades in public or private schools -- Edison parents are generally relieved to know that they can rely on Edison for 9th-12th grade education of their child in an extremely limited, non-challenging and non-diverse environment .
Posted by a parent on 1/31/2021As an Edison Alumnus, I can honestly say that a great deal of my scholastic success after high school was rooted in the lessons, tools, and confidence I gained while in attendance. Being able to take some subjects at a slower pace when I was struggling was invaluable. Having the ability to accelerate through subjects I found easy made a world of difference too. I struggled for 1.5 years to get through the 1-yr curriculum, but I was fast to pick up Geometry and was able to complete the 1-yr curriculum in less than half a year. I have ADHD and a reading comprehension disorder. Thanks to Edison, I am not defined by or allow my differences to be an excuse that holds me back.
Posted by a student on 12/13/2017As a parent of an Edison student, this is the only private and costly alternative to students who would otherwise be placed in special ed classrooms in Portland area public schools which are beyond sub-par. Edison promises much but has huge grade inflation in a school which is not college prep by any means. Edison is smoke in mirrors: they inflate grades, pander to parents and are not up to date with current best practices for teaching alternative learning differences. This school is stuck in 1970's and does not acknowledge or meet students' needs in the present day.

We believe that every student has the ability to learn and succeed. Edison High School offers the tools, and the support, that enable students with learning differences to discover that ability within themselves. Our mission is to empower students with learning differences/disabilities to experience academic success and personal growth, while preparing them for the future.Small but mighty, our strength lies in our size. An eight-to-one student/teacher ratio allows for an individualized curriculum, and ensures personal attention from our instructors. That focus, coupled with an emphasis on emotional support, opens the door to accomplishment and achievement for our students – many for the first time. We never fail to be moved by it.We see our juniors and seniors begin to dream of a future beyond our walls. We watch our graduates go on to vocational schools, two- or four-year colleges, the workforce or a combination of those options. In short, they are more likely to become the productive, involved, self-sustaining citizens our community needs. We invite you to learn more about what Edison High School can do for your child.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school, wonderful and committed staff! We have been at McKay for 2 years and are very happy with the entire school. It's a very community-oriented staff and group of parents and the teachers care greatly for the students. Excellent principal (Erin Kollings) too. The small class sizes are an added bonus.Parent Review10mo ago - Vose Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey are are not helpful if your child has a disability, developmental delay. They provide little to no support unless you keep pushing the issue. They seem to promote support with students with mental health and emotional well-being, but don’t be fooled, they don’t actually fix the issues if there is a bully who is creating these issues with other students.Parent Review10mo ago - Oregon Episcopal School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe OES community will take the time to know your child. It is a joyful place where kids are nurtured and seen, where individuals are appreciated and honored for the unique contributions they make to the community. OES is an inquiry based and placed based education. They use the onsite wetlands and forest to encourage exploration and curiosity. The school promotes self awareness and individual impact. OES' motto of using your power for good is woven into every aspect of the school. OES produces students that are global thinkers, kind, and prepared to creatively solve problems.Parent Review1y ago - Catlin Gabel School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLearning: Amazing. Very intimate, most teachers were professors and specialized in their field. Feels like a college campus with uppity buildings endowed by the opulent & with sporty/incredibly smart students who know their way around a chateau yet are extremely humble and nice. Just a touch of entitledness with very few people, Someone told me they let the computer program just pick their classes even though their parents pay dollars a minute just to have them go there lol.spec. ed: They are so selective, I don't think there is even a single VISIBLY SPED kid there. Very sparsely placed buildings, and rocky and steep ground, would be very hard to navigate with w/a wheelchair. They would be amazing in accomodation sthough, & already are.Emotional support: AMAZING.COUNSELORS. They are even thinking of getting an emotional support dog/s. Safety: Good. Very emphasized, especially after the scandal & bullying problems.Admin is ON IT, whether it is about academic honesty, bullying, unsafe environments, or even a nice conversation.Bureaucracy: Forms. SO many forms. As a family you are EXPECTED to take part in activities, and as new students you are given host families to feel welcomed into the Catlin culture.Buildings; They asked for 40 million dollars to revamp the school.eco: They make an effort but it is kind of just greenwashing. The whole foods of education basically. Not an Erwhon, but Whole Foods is still darn good.I'm so sorry to those who had bad experiences (other reviews) Things have gotten so much better, and Admin is amazing. Luv ya & Eagles Soar!Student Review7mo ago
