Read what parents are saying about Phoenix Community Learning CenterI would not recommend sending your kids to this school. Phoenix is a horrible school, students fight every single day the principal doesn’t do anything about it. The kids here are bullies and the teachers don’t do anything to prevent it. The school is very dirty, the kids don’t do anything, no special’s barely recess, and they eat in there classroom. All they do is sit in the classroom it’s like a prison. Some of the teachers are scared of the kids. THIS SCHOOL IS OUT OF CONTROL AND NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!
Posted by a parent on 1/14/2023I go to this school currently and it's been the worst experience of my life. Staff is rude and doesn't really teach, Teachers hit and threaten students for no reason, they hire anybody that has a degree but doesn't look for a background (felons and gang related people), And also shows favorites towards other students because of either their parents, they went here for years, or because they're family with staff. Since Dr.Brown left, the school has been falling down ever since.
Posted by a student on 5/20/2022This school is messed up i want it to get shut down. They fight every day and 7th and 8th grade is on lock down but the every other grade fight every day. They feed up like we are slaves. The teachers can hit students without getting fired. They say disrespectful things to the students .
Posted by a parent on 5/20/2022I taught at this school for a few months in the early 2000s, and I just saw an advertisement on television, which reminded me of my experience there. Frankly, I was shocked that this school is still in business. When I taught there, we were given access to no textbooks at all. Our lessons were not permitted to be longer than 10 minutes long. Our classes contained students of varying ages and grade levels. There was a complete lack of structure and discipline. When I brought a student to the assistant principal for open defiance, she yelled at the student for 5 minutes at the top of her lungs, and then sent her back to class. The administration cared more about whether the students were wearing uniforms and whether they could stand at attention and recite a ridiculous school pledge than they cared about whether anyone was learning anything. The miserable statistics are no surprise to me. I left this school because it would have been unethical for me to continue to be a part of what is going on there. If you care about your children, please do not send them here.
Posted by a teacher on 7/10/2021Teaches are overworked and underpaid. Teachers expected to put in extra, unpaid time. Classrooms are out of control. Leaders are controlling and condescending to the staff and plan unnecessary professional development that is a waste of their time. Years ago when I worked there they planned a MANDATORY 2 week summer training beginning the first day of summer to discuss common core. If you didn't come, you didn't have a job. No sub coverage so unqualified teachers are covering classrooms. So much time is spent focusing on non curriculum items. Leaders have ONE thing in mind and that is MONEY. This place is a zoo and needs investigated by the state immediately. I truly don't have one good thing to say.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent. I love the Principal, Roger Lewis. The teachers and staff seem to really care about the students. Very few negative interactions there. Very strong parental interaction and support for student activities. Very strong parent-lead organizations: Foundation, Fathers' Group, PTA, LSDMC.Parent Review6y ago - Rockdale Academy Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school doesn't keep the patents informed about problems the students are having. We don't get grades back from the work that are fine in class we are not informed about different state test that the kids have to take until less than a week prior. The homework that comes home with the kids are irrelevant to the state test the kid have to take. Bullying is not taken serious. Even when you complain to the board you get no responses back after they take your information and tell you they will call you within 48 hours. They are not teaching for success. They are only teaching kids how to take test. The most important factor is you think your child is doing good because you see the good scores on homework but in class work doesn't come home. When you ask about it the response is always we work on that stuff in class in small groups. No one is being held responsible and no one is looking into the actual numbers of what is going on. Even this message will get overlooked. Maybe if I go to the news or write a column in the news paper people will then start to pay attention. The principle is horrible. To me it seems like they only care about the 9000+ dollars they get from each students that comes out of the tax payers pocket. When you start to ask real questions the blame then send to go on the student which usually is "he /she lacks focus" or home work is getting turned in late because they gave the homework folder to the wrong teacher. Instead of having one homework folder they need to have one for each class. This school sucks. It's failing and it's not the kids fault the school makes it seem like your kid is doing good until report cards or testing comes out. Then that's when you hear about all the problems. Before then you hear nothing and see nothing except graded homework.Other Review7y ago - Xavier University Montessori Lab School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe New School Montessori provides an excellent academic education and fosters social development. Children learn by experience and exploration, which develops their critical thinking and problem solving skills. All of these factors set a strong foundation for success in higher education and beyond. The staff is incredible in how they teach and encourage the children. The larger community of parents is supportive of each other.Parent Review3y ago - St Clement Elementary School
