Ps 23 Richmondtown

Hands down the best school I’ve ever come across. My kids are thriving and the teachers staff, vice principal and principal are absolutely amazing. So lucky for my kids to be in this school!

My children have been attending this school since 2014. The teachers are excellent at individualizing the work to meet the academic levels of the children. The school is supportive in all aspects of the educational environment. My kids excel because of this school!

Ever since the 1st day of school they've been asking for money. They give you a giant list valued at about $35.00 for school supplies as if property taxes arent giving them their share. Also they want money for teachers on Christmas. (I did not get a Christmas bonus)Both my kids are failing!!!!!! And no matter how nice the teachers are in my face I know the only thing that matters is that my children pass. Then they want you to take off work to go there, it feels like a shakedown. Why can't business be handled over the phone for people who work 60 to 70 hours a week. I went to pick up my children early last month and they embarrassed me so bad. They said you daughter got a 82 on a test so she was called to the principal's office for congratulations. I spoke to the principal and he said he helps my daughter with her homework in the afterschool program. That freaked me out because wth is he being stuck doing the teachers job? Once again both kids are failing. Also all the good reviews for this school are from people with one review. The people who work at the school will see this and I am not worried about retaliation. Once again both my kids are failing.

P.S. 23 is an excellent school with teachers who put forth great effort in educating their students. The faculty and staff are very involved and available to the parents for any questions or concerns. I have sent all three of my children to this school and they have received quality educations. The only "bad" fact is that it doesn't go to the eighth grade because the children don't want to leave.

A truly remarkable school. The teachers and administrators are highly professional and very dedicated. All questions are answered and parents are kept very well informed. The PTA is strong and a very positive influence on the P.S. 23 community. Both of my children have been given a solid foundation upon which they will build their future academic success. My son qualified for Staten Island Technical High School and starts there in the fall. My daughter begins at I.S. 24 in the fall with the same strong foundation, and I expect her to follow her brother to S.I. Tech. There is no doubt in my mind that P.S. 23 is one of the finest schools the N.Y.C.D.O.E. has to offer. J. Schermerhorn
