Ps 117 J Keld Briarwood School

Outside of the school, there is too much scaffolding. And the people that are building it won't even tell us why or what they're building. And on top of that, the 3rd & 5th grade exits are changed! That's very annoying for me because I'm a fifth grader. The recess field is now very limited because of the scaffolding. The kids who usually play a sport (the only sports are soccer and basketball) can't play the sport they're playing. But the good news is, the kids get to go to the playground next to the field. But I would still recommend this school. Signed, The C Guy

Faculty staff are all EXPERIENCED.Safety standards are practiced.School encourages family participation to supplement children's learning.

Went there to register my son and the office staff was so rude and unprofessional. Just watching the way they spoke to parents over the phone asking about where to go for vaccinations and the way they spoke to me in my face was enough to discourage me from enrolling them. I’ll continue to drop them off at their school in brooklyn before going to work in manhattan. Also only allowing registration between 9-12pm is ridiculous considering that parents have jobs. Having morning and afternoon registration hours would be more considerate.

My children currently attend and so far it has been a very disorganized and frustrating experience! They come home everyday unhappy not wanting to return. The new principal does not seem to care much about children with disabilities so if your child has ANY issue at all, think before sending them here. The teachers seem very overwhelmed and quick to suggest evaluations for a child so they can get them out of their hair. Lastly, there is also evident racial discrimination towards certain types of students, particularly black, and there are very few in this school. Beware.

Still paying of my child’s thearapy after this experience, everyone in the neighborhood agrees, 117 is the WORST PLACE TO SEND A CHILD.
