Read what parents are saying about University Neighborhood Middle SchoolThis school makes every effort to ensure that every child reaches and surpasses their potential. As a parent I have always been made to feel welcome and important. UNMS is a strong community.
Posted by a parent on 11/29/2017My experience at UNMS was very disappointing. This school clearly cares more about their image, rating than the students. Do your research, this school clearly under performs. I should've done my research..
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2017I wish I had known how wonderful this school was while I was agonizing over middle schools for my son, last year. UNMS is the hidden gem in District 1. The teachers are caring and make it point to keep in touch with the parents. They are true professionals. The principal is devoted to her school, and has a staff that follows her lead. The school occupies one hallway is a shared school. The children are kept safe and apart from the other schools. My son is in the film making club and at 11 years old, can edit film. His teachers understand his specials needs and have helped him to become a school leader. The schools takes the kids to the AIDS walk and to the Breast Cancer walk, encouraging them to be active, global citizens. Last week, my son and his class did career and colleges searches. They have written myths that they are going to publish at NYU. They have a school wide Thanksgiving dinner and many parent sponsored events. If you are looking for a middle school, this is the place to go!

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot impressed as I get the impression parents are not wanted inside the school unless there is a fundraising event. At every other elementary school parents /caretakers can enter the schoolyard or step inside to pickup or drop off their child, but not at this school/. Bullying issues are not addressed at all which is very unfortunate. The principal seems as if she wants her numbers to look great irrespective of any issues going on. I heard this but also heard good things but I am seeing the negatives are correct and appear to be true.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 134 Henrietta Szold

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers my daughter has had at this school were great. I couldn't ask for better teachers. And the principal does an excellent job. My experience has been a positive one at this school. My daughter has been here since kindergarten. She's now going to 4th grade.Parent Review6y ago - Ps 140 Nathan Straus

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageShuang Wen School . If you are looking for a good elementary school and middle school for your children, you must pay attention to this. When you have questions or you support from school principal. The principal and the newly appointed assistant principal never reply messages to parents. Replying to emails and messages is the most basic courtesy, but we as a parents are not even treated with the most basic courtesy and respect. When we called the school, the school staff will just told us the only thing we can do is wait.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 2 Meyer London

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy 2nd and 4th graders are currently students in PS42 and have been at 42 from pre-k. It is a complete relief to leave my kids in a school that I love and trust. The principal and my son’s 4th grade teacher both went to 42. There’s a special sense of comfort and family that I experienced from the first time I toured. The administration and staff went above and beyond when the world went sideways and I will continue to be grateful.Parent Review1y ago - Beth Jacob Parochial School
