My daughter has been attending this school for 2 years now. It is a great school with great music and art programs. My daughter had to have a safety transfer from a previous school so it has been a huge blessing not getting called weekly that something has happened to my child. The afterschool program is AMAZING as well! They have so many cool clubs to keep the kids entertained and involved like fashion and girl code. This is my daughter's last year of Elementary school so it will be bitter sweet for her to transition over to middle school. If you are looking for a great school for your child look no further.

My son has been attending P.S 51 for the last two years. I love this school. The new principal is excellent very involved. A diverse environment, arts and music programs at this school are great. I love our school would not change it. The school is extremely safe and staff is very professional.

Our son attends pre-K in Mrs Rivas' class. She is INCREDIBLE - patient, caring, loving, creative, and somehow finds time to truly impact every one of her students. The school is brand new and well-equipped. The teachers are passionate and the parents are getting involved (average PTA meeting has 50+ attendees). And the new principal (Ryan Bourke) was previously at the very well-regarded PS 212: Midtown West and is bringing the same great ideas and community focus to PS 51. We did a ton of research online and learned that some of the national ranking websites are not accurate. My recommendation is GO VISIT THE SCHOOL. Ask for a tour. Meet the principal and teachers and decide for yourself what's best. Good luck!

PS51 is a neighborhood gem! The PTA is super active, productive, and welcoming without being pushy. The school which sits in a BRAND NEW building and doesn't have the issues that the old buildings in the city inevitably do. The community reflects the true diversity of our city and gives priority entry to our own local kids. Programming is enriched with STEAM enrichment and other fun and exciting opportunities that are unique and special for every grade. It is a special community and as a parent of pre-k student who just got the letter we have been anxiously waiting for - we are really looking forward to the next 6 years!
