Read what parents are saying about Nightingale-Bamford SchoolI am an NBS alumna, and my daughter goes there now. The academics and faculty are excellent, there is a friendly and warm atmosphere in the halls, and the current headmaster is inspiring. I was happy and received a great education while I was there, and now my daughter is happy and thriving in the same stimulating and supportive environment. Many of the teachers who were teaching there when I was a student are still there, which to me is meaningful. There is a wonderful sense of community here, commitment by the leadership and faculty to inclusion, and commitment to the success of all the students. To my knowledge and in my personal experience, I've only ever witnessed the school and girls behaving in an inclusive, welcome way to students of all backgrounds. I agree with a previous post, however, that diversity numbers in the student body -- particularly in the Lower School, from what I have observed -- could improve, which I don't think is an issue unique to NBS but will be found among all of the elite private schools. Based on the way the school talks about D&I issues, I am truly hoping that their efforts will lead to a greater increase in diversity admissions.
Posted by a parent on 4/11/2019I give Nightingale-Bamford an A+, because they put great effort into their curriculum, global education, diversity, and inclusivity.
Posted by a parent on 3/18/2019As a parent, I thought the school was outstanding academically. The administration is top notch and the teachers are outstanding. This issue I had with this school was its complete lack of diversity. Busing in a few scholarships from the outer boroughs does not constitute diversity! Nightingale is 95% privileged upper class rich white girls who live in a bubble and have no clue about the real world. The atmosphere is stuffy and typical of what you would expect to find in an environment of rich snobs. The school does what they can to try and give these girls a dose of reality but the real problem is they just don't admit enough smart but not rich kids. I get that endowments and donations are important to the schools success but come on Nightingale let a little light into those blue doors and let those rich girls get a true taste of what the rest of world is all about. Diversify your student body as not everybody's daddy is a rich banker or hot shot lawyer.
Posted by a parent on 4/30/2018As the parent of a girl who has attended Nightingale since kindergarten, I can't really compare it to any other place. Be that as it may, I simply can't imagine many other K-12 institutions in this country that care as much about a girl's whole education, that has equal or superior resources, or that has an administration and faculty as talented and genuinely caring as this place. It has weaknesses, as all schools do; Nightingale's biggest weakness - by far - is athletics, as in the shocking lack of professional coaching. But my daughter has loved the school, through good times and not so good times. And it has made a huge difference in her life to this point and, we expect, in her life ahead.
Posted by a parent on 5/18/2014I LOVE LOVE LOVE NIGHTINGALE!!! The girls are SUPER nice, we're like sisters, and there is so much intergrade bonding almost everyone knows each other. They also have an outstanding staff who helps you really learn the concept and no what you're being taught, they can be tough, but it all helps in the long run. Like one of our teachers say " "The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a flame to be ignited"

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent school with wonderful administration and staff. Upbeat and innovative. 3 of my 4 children attended this school, and it has improved greatly over the years with Ms. Debenedictis. My 10 year, who old just graduated from this school, loved her experience. Highly recommended!!Parent Review1y ago - Trevor Day School Lower

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs someone who attended La Scuola from Kindergarten to 8th grade, this school was an overall very bad experience for me. Many of my peers were bullied a lot and while it was obvious, they let the teachers and staff know about it, but majority of the time no action was taken and they didn't show that they cared at all. From what I can remember, about maybe 4 of my teachers were actually teaching the best that they could and putting maximum effort into their jobs. I barely learned anything there, and as soon as I switched schools, I started excelling in my classes. The curriculum is very disorganized and the homework piles up very quickly because the teachers barely consider the fact that students have lives outside of school. The classes are so small that you are basically forced to be friends with everyone in your grade, even if you aren't fond of them.Other Review2y ago - Convent of the Sacred Heart

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI firmly believe that Sacred Heart played a critical role in making me the confident, caring, and hardworking person that I am today. The teachers at CSH care about every student and really work to nurture us into the leaders of tomorrow. I will always be grateful that my parents sent me to Sacred Heart.Student Review2mo ago - Ramaz Lower School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student at the school in 7th grade. I joined 7 years ago and never once have I had anything negative to say about the overall experience. Certain classes are too easy at times, but this is very rare. To anyone coming to this website that is in the process of deciding what primary/middle school to go to, I recommend this amazing school for everyone.Student Review2y ago - St. Francis De Sales

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school shut down a month early and did not refund our money. The investor is suspected of money laundering through the school. We had high hopes for this school but it was a true disappointment.Parent Review1y ago
