I cannot express enough how delighted I am with Hawthorne Country Day School. From the moment my child enrolled, we've experienced nothing but excellence. The faculty and staff are incredibly dedicated, creating a warm and nurturing environment where students thrive academically and personally.

I have worked here for over 10 years. There are 2 main reasons why I am a loyal, long time employee. The first is how hard everyone works to get the best results for the students. ABA teaching is difficult, but really works when you do it right. The staff here are really dedicated to properly apply ABA principles; and we have seen so much progress from our students! The other is the people there. They are smart, funny people, who love their students more that I can ever put into words. Overall, they are very supportive of each other. (We have had new staff that have been quite suprised by the amount of peer support; they had not experienced it elsewhere.) This is a high stress job, due to the nature of our learners. All schools / businesses have their problems and HCDS is no exception. It's the right job for me, though. To describe it, I use the old Peace Corps slogan, "The Toughest Job You Will Ever Love."

Horrible experience working here. I enjoy working with children in the spectrum, but Hawthorne needs a complete overhaul.

From the first day we visited Hawthorne Country Day School, we knew it was the place for our autistic son. The school radiated a positivity and warmth that was sorely lacking in other Special Ed Pre-K programs we visited. We could tell right away HCDS had that crucial balance of focused, ABA-centered teaching we felt would be valuable for our son, but also included the vital social component that would bring him out into the light. In his two years at HCDS, he has blossomed into a vibrant young person who now loves to be around other people, and loves to learn. During the recent pandemic, the staff at HCDS went ABOVE AND BEYOND - giving us countless resources to aid our homeschooling, and always making themselves available for our questions and concerns. The staff never wavered during the crisis, and their commitment to continuing our son’s education was awe-inspiring. Most incredibly, they empowered us to feel like we were capable of continuing his difficult education. The staff of HCDS aren’t just teachers - they’ve become a part of our family. I cannot recommend this remarkable school highly enough.
