There are so many substitutes in school without enough experienced full time teachers. And many ICT classrooms ( study with IEP students) and IEP aces programs . The academic is no rigor anymore, it’s just a regular middle school.

The school has become terrible now that a new principal is in charge, and they handle things in a completely messed up manner. The experienced teachers have retired, and a significant portion of the incoming 8th graders will not have the opportunity to enroll in the algebra 1 course. Everything is deteriorating rapidly, particularly after the retirement of Mr. Berman, the previous principal.

This school is very good education-wise, the counseling staff are great, unfortunately overworked This isn't a great school if you struggle with transitions or change, I've had many teachers change in the middle of the school year, being reassigned to multiple substitutes, before having 1 stable teacher, typically a downgrade from the one before. If you have issues NOT documented in a 504/IEP (like trauma) forget about your needs being met. ABL facilitator is a disorganized mess, lacks any emotional regulation skills, lashes out at students and constantly brings others into situations in hopes they will back her up, tiring and traumatic to the students. clubs and trips are great students are encouraged to form meaningful connections with each other. One of the best special education programs I've seen, the disabled students are treated with the same love and care as the non-disabled ones, they are truly a part of the school community, they are placed into either ABL, ASR, AAH, or ACES, each having their own special classes, the school is anti-restraint and does not use any type of restraint on students in crisis, disabled children have often interact with their non-disabled peers, during events, lunch, through clubs, and shared classes. Mental health is taken very seriously at the school. if you are a parent with a child who is attending or applying to the school, consider therapy for your child, the academic pressure is intense and many children resort to negative coping skills, including self-harm, disordered eating, and using the internet as a "safe-space". you want your child to have someone to go to in case something were to happen. If you are a student who is struggling, our counselors are amazing and truly love their line of work, I encourage you to reach out to them, if you don't want "therapy" but want an adult who feels more like a friend in these regards, Mr. feil or Ms. Lisa are both great people to go to.
