Read what parents are saying about Calvary Christian AcademyNo sports, no art, have been promising for years to open the gym but it remains unfinished. The tall building next door is not owned by the school. Potential buyers have been an apartment complex or the church of Scientology.
Posted by a parent on 2/11/2020Administration cares more about money than they do about students. They preach about maintaining Christian morals but then didn't know how to practice the most important principle- love.
Posted by a teacher on 8/3/2019This school used to be one of the best schools in Albuquerque and that is why we came back, but the standard has since declined. For the money that they charge they should invest more in sports, music, arts and more qualified teachers. Please make improvements.
Posted by a parent on 7/2/2019I watched the students interact with each other many times and when behavior was inappropriate the matter was handled immediately and with care and concern.
Posted by a community member on 5/22/2019So, I'll try to keep this review as unbiased as possible. I'm not only a community member, I'm a former student. For many years I had no feeling about this school, in recent years looking back I've realized how truly awful it was.I attended this school for four years from 8th grade to 11th grade, at which point I dropped out and got my GED. As it wasn't (still isn't?) accredited I would have had to do that even if I graduated. In my entire four years I had two teachers that actually seemed to know what they were talking about. Bible and math. Every other subject was taught by a church insider, and they should never have been teachers. Our English class was a joke and the teacher almost never actually got up from behind her desk. How can you teach English without writing on the board? History was actually drama half the time (Yes, I mean literally acting out skits in front of the class). Sometimes we had a decent science teacher, but they tended to come and go. And can you believe I don't even remember what other subjects they taught? That's how bad it was. Now, maybe things have changed since I went there, but I wouldn't bet on it. The nepotism in both the school and church is actually stunning in retrospect. I was very active in both, and even after more than four years I still felt like an outsider. Likely because I wouldn't conform 100%. With nepotism as such, it no surprise that the teachers were so unqualified at that time.If you're more concerned with religious indoctrination into the far right wing of evangelicalism than your child's education, this is the place for you. Today I am well educated. Not because of this school, but in spite of this school. Most regrettable time in my life. Don't do that to your children.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is time for a leadership change. This school was a great prior to 2020, since the return to in-person learning this school has gone downhill. If there is an issue between student or student to teacher issues and you speak to the principal, there is no resolution. I have had to remove my children from this school for the betterment of their education. Teachers are good, the administration needs to change.Parent Review6mo ago - Manzano High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt has been an honor to work at the school under Ms. Lovato. She cares about every child in the school. She knows all of their names. She is very involved in every child's education. She treats the teachers like professionals. She does not micro manage. She is always out at the parking lot in the morning or after school. She is always working lunch duties. The teachers work so hard at this school to keep all children safe.Teacher Review8mo ago - Mc Collum Elementary School
