Read what parents are saying about Roosevelt Middle SchoolAs a parent and as an educator, I have had experience with many schools, and this is BY FAR the BEST!The administration has created a safe, supportive, positive environment in which all kinds of different students thrive. The teachers are engaged and caring, working with students both in the classroom and outside of regular hours, meeting during office hours after school, responding to emails, and including parents in strategies to support the students at home. This school includes children with learning differences, disabilities, social and economic challenges, and makes them all feel valued and heard. There are a lot of kids on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, including several non-binary students, and the teachers and staff respect their pronouns and preferred names. The rating for this school is misleading, as it does not take into account all of these factors, and the success the students have experienced here, while they might have failed elsewhere. Liberty may(?) have better gifted programs, but for all other kids, there is no school that would better serve them. Also, other schools do not create the safe, supportive environment for students who would often be targets at other schools. The principal, Mr. Hush, has created a culture in the school that is second to none. I wish my child could stay through high school!

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a disgrace! They don’t take bullying serious at all! My child started in January after being transferred from moving and almost immediately was bullied by a popular student who ended up turning nearly the entire 7th grade against my daughter. The principal NEVER responded to my emails about this matter UNTIL I went above his head! The boy that bullied my daughter was able to still stay in the same class as my daughter up until the very last day of school. Aside from that the school is disgusting especially the bathrooms my daughter took pics to show me and as far as academics my daughter came there as an honor roll student and left as one.Parent Review8mo ago - Lincoln Avenue Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis review is a post script to my review on this site from March 21, 2013. My 2 YO son has since joined the school in the nursery classroom. Our daughter completed SOCDS' K program at 5, and after being there for one semester was able to read, write, count by 5s, 10s, and 100s. She learned the solar system, time-telling, money, etc. A portion of the K curriculum SOCDS teaches covers 1st and 2nd grade learning not taught until later in the public school system. SOCDS has a rigorous curriculum for little people, but allows the individual child to excel at their own pace. They're very committed to teaching kids academics on a schedule and also life skills in what I call a "Montessori-light" environment - the classrooms are not structured as tightly as a traditional Maria Montessori room. Children in preschool with my son seem happy and engaged, which is so important, especially when they are small. The school has a homey atmosphere, since most classes are held in a large house. SOCDS has extended day options and a summer camp. Overall, South Orange Country Day is a sweet, well-run small school truly devoted to kids, their minds, and their curiosity/creativity.Parent Review9y ago - St John Grammar School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI saw some other reviews here about the lack of support for not "fitting the mold", or students with learning challenges. We absolutely felt this way when we first came to Golda Och, but this year we have seen a *major* improvement and truly commend the school for the new support staff they hired, and accommodations made. All of the teachers and learning specialists truly care about the wellbeing of the students, and put in great effort to make my child feel comfortable this year. No school is perfect, but we are glad we chose Golda Och and would recommend it to others.Parent Review10mo ago
