Read what parents are saying about Maywood Avenue Elementary SchoolI can see the difference in this school. The teachers are very professional. Through my child, I see their passion in teaching the students. The best thing is that teachers will offer extra help if students are struggling with a subject. Also their is a homework club after school, where the students can do their homework. My child loves this school.
Posted by a community member on 3/20/2022I like the way kids been handled here.My son feels much confidence in his behavior.I would rate the school above the average.
Posted by a parent on 12/12/2019I've had 4 children go through the Maywood school system and have consistently been impressed by the teachers, staff and administration. Public schools in NJ are inundated with test prep curriculum, but Maywood has found a way to balance the necessary (PARCC prep) with a strong element of character education.
Posted by a parent on 8/23/2017Great school, academically and atmosphere wise. This school deserves 5 stars, for sure. :) :)
Posted by a parent on 11/30/2015Not very impressed with this school, I'm sorry to say. Common Core and PARCC seem to be taking a toll on the teachers and the kids.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf it weren't for the teachers, I probably would have pulled my child out and gone broke sending them to private school. The administration needs to change, way too strict and rigid. They have no other forms of discipline for kids other than taking recess away, they can't think or just don't want to think outside of the box. Kids get written up for sneezing the wrong way in my opinion. If your child is having issues, you get called in for conferences like once a month but nothing ever changes. The administration tends to blame the parents for their kids behavior during school hours even though they refuse to follow any recommendations made by medical professionals on how to prevent those behaviors. Also PTO is EXTREMELY clicky and a tad bit unwelcoming...but the PTO does have fun events.Parent Review4y ago - Midland No 1

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNellie K was definitely not what I expected. The principle was never available to speak, she would always have a reason why she wasn’t available. The teacher my son had was everything except an educator (prefer not to share name) She was definitely there to criticize the kids instead of helping them. It is very sad as a parent to come across a school like this, since kids are spending majority of their time in there schools. Thankfully my son was only there for one year. All I know is my son get very emotional every time we bring up this school and teacher that’s how horrible our experience was.Parent Review1y ago - Fairmount Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are thrilled with our children's experience at Ben Porat Yosef! They are excited to go to school each day and have progressed year to year! They have the most amazing teachers and staff who not only clearly love their job but are extremely attuned to each child's social-emotional needs. The school spirit cant be beat and my kids say it feels like a second home!Parent Review1y ago - Kings Kids Academy
