Read what parents are saying about New School Of Monmouth CountyAt The New School the teachers and directors take personal interest in the students. Every child does not learn the same way and at the same time. Here the students are allowed to find their own way to learn and be inspired. The New School creates interesting projects and engages all grades to participate. If you want your child to be safe, loved, inspired, curious to learn more and to be a good friend/ human being The New School is a great start.
Posted by a parent on 1/8/2024Through project-based learning, the New School takes a real-life, applied, full-circle approach to educating K-8 children: It examines all aspects of a chosen topic — the art of it, the math of it, the reading of it, the writing, the science, etc. This is more practical, but it's also more engaging — so much so, your child doesn't always recognize they're learning (and isn't this the way it should be?). Our child loves the school, both academically and socially, and has blossomed in its intimate, applied environment with the individualized tailoring the small community offers. As a product of NJ public K-12 schools, I truly appreciate and recognize the benefits this accepting, applied educational environment offers young, intelligent minds.
Posted by a community member on 1/5/2024As a parent of 2 children in TNS of Monmouth County, I just wanted to say how pleased I am with our experience. When you decide to leave the public school system, it can be a daunting task trying to figure out what is right for your family. From the moment we received our student guided tour of the school, we fell in love with the DNA of TNS. I tell other parents that kids can be kids, here. I think that is such an important attribute for a school today. Kids have the freedom to ask questions, explore their creativity, experience nature, and work as a team to solve problems. The teachers have a lesson plan, but also have the freedom to call an audible if students express interest in a particular subject. Children are inherently curious. TNS understands this and helps nurture their curiosity with project-based assignments, field trips, school traditions, and impressive student-led presentations.
Posted by a parent on 1/4/2024A project-based learning approach with lots of time outside has been wonderful for our child. We wish we knew about this school earlier. Our child is given flexibility to explore his interests. The parents are very friendly, and the teachers are fantastic. I highly recommend TNS!
Posted by a community member on 1/3/2024The New School of Monmouth County is absolutely a hidden gem. Discovering this unique, project-based learning environment has been the biggest blessing for our family. Upon entering the school for orientation, I knew immediately that this was a special place. From student-led tours and testimonials to the comprehensive background given by the administrators, this was hands down the easiest decision my husband and I have ever made regarding our daughter's education. TNS is a close-knit community of families, educators, and former students who have returned to the school to celebrate various traditions over the years, which speaks volumes about the school and their experiences. My daughter is now in her 3rd school year at TNS and has blossomed into a curious, confident, and self-assured young lady, all thanks to the support, education, and love she receives at school. Her younger brother is very much looking forward to joining her next year at The New School!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFirst of all their enrollment is so low (many kids drop out after joining for one year). So kids make friends for a year & then there is a completely different class next year with 90% new students. Second, most of the kids in the school from 2nd grade to 8th grade are students of staff members (who work as teachers in the school), and their class average is 5-6 kids in each grade (so do the math – most of those are kids of faculty). The school is run completely by the vice principal because the principal is a veteran who owns the school & at this time is not involved with anything. There are no extra-curricular activities apart from a track team which literally uses the side walk at the front of the building to train kids. The vice principal claimed when we joined the school that we teach two other languages, Spanish & Mandarin to all kids. Not even once in two years my son learnt both languages at the same time. It was either spanish or mandarin & sometimes none because if their mandarin or spanish teacher goes on leave, then they have no back-ups. They will teach Spanish, then randomly start Mandarin & keep on switching based on teacher’s availabilities. Here is when it all fell apart for us - We went on a one week trip and I informed the teachers in advance that we were going on vacation & when my son went back to school, they took 3 exams on the first day he was back in school. They are so incourateous that not only did they try to teach one week worth of material to my son in one day, but then also took 3 exams the same day. This is fundamentally wrong & truly messed up. Talk about giving your child mental stress in school. When I reached out to the teachers & Vice principal, they kept on saying – “oh look at his scores, he did well”. My whole feedback was that you should have sent the study guides home so I could prepare my son for the tests. When I talked directly to the vice principal, she cut me off while I was explaining the situation, was completely defensive & absolutely rude on the call and SHE HUNG UP ON ME. The vice principal had no interest in listening to me, or taking any feedback. Don’t waste your money & don’t sacrifice your child’s mental state by sending them to this school. FYI - Most other reviews on websites are given by staff members whose kids go to this school. Teachers are not good either.Parent Review11mo ago - Rock Brook School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does not even hire teachers that are special ed certified. Their postings on ideed indicate that you may be "interested" in pursuing a certificate in special ed to apply. Really? Work hands-on with students without being certified. This is why this school is garbage and does not actually help any child make progress and succeed. How awful. They charge the sending district a fortune and a half and won't even hire certified teachers so that they could pay them less. DisGusTing!!!Parent Review8mo ago - St Anthony School
