Read what parents are saying about Hoboken Dual Language Charter SchoolHola is a Spanish/English bilingual K-5 charter school (applying to expand thru 8th) that has created a diverse, tight-knit and vibrant community for our two kids. They love it. We chose it so our kids would learn a new language, but it's actually offered them a different way of looking at the world. The curriculum is pretty rigorous with an emphasis on language and science/tech. Most families are not native Spanish speakers and the kids still do well because their language immersion starts right in K. In the most recent NJASK test, 89% of third graders passed English Language Arts (66% statewide); 98% passed Math with 52% Advanced Proficient (78% statewide). In fourth grade 70% passed English Language Arts (59% statewide), 83% passed Math with 48% scoring Advanced Proficient (78% statewide), and 96% passed Science, 78% Advanced Proficient (44% statewide). The scores on this site are outdated. The PTO and student council are active and there are lots of sports, performing arts and other extracurricular activities. It's a new school and not without hiccups, but it's amazing to have a public option in Hoboken that looks ahead and focuses on the skills our kids really need.
Posted by a parent on 11/21/2013The richness of the curriculum rivals of the other Charter Schools and private schools in the area, the classrooms are all new, class sizes small, the teachers are dedicated and the Director's experience, passion and subject matter expertise is unsurpassed and..... the kids are getting all this in 2 languages! It's unbelievable what young children can learn in a second language, and their test scores are proof! Sending my child to Hola is a special gift that she will have with her for her entire life! There were some hiccups during the first + year, but since the new Director has come on board, I truly believe it is if not on its way to be being the best grade school in Hoboken.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our first year at the school in the early childhood program. Overall, we have had a very good experience with the school. Most importantly, our child loves going to school, they are learning and faculty has gotten to know them very well as a "whole child", helping them grow and learn in a warm and caring way, which we have greatly appreciated it. We also see elements of the IB program sprinkled in. The administration has also been responsive to feedback in the spirit of partnership.Parent Review1mo ago - St.Nicholas School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Stevens. My son's been a Stevens students for over one year now. (He started in K and now a first grade student) I really enjoyed the progressive learning philosophy and I believe that's how kids can learn efficiently and actively. I also really enjoyed how they focus a lot on kids' social-emotional skill development. I have already recommended Stevens to a lot of my friends in the neighborhood.Parent Review2y ago - Stevens Cooperative School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son started his elementary school journey with Stevens since Kindergarten. We love it here! The progressive learning methods really helped to boost my son’s passion for learning. Curriculum is well designed. Also they taught kids the skills that will benefit them in a long run (presentation, research, teamwork, project management, etc). We are in 3rd grade at Newport campus and it is a very diverse group of kids. As a minority, I feel respected and my culture was honored and valued. Most importantly, my son became more and more confident and just happy to go to school everyday. Highly recommend!Parent Review2mo ago - Learn Language Hoboken
