Read what parents are saying about North Mecklenburg HighThis is a horrible school to send your kid. The teachers aren’t good at their job and act like they care but in reality they really don’t and some even encourage the students terrible behavior. A lot of those kids at that school are bad teenagers always up to no good and getting in trouble. Please don’t let these fake reviews saying that this school is good to eventually encourage you into sending your kid here.
Posted by a student on 6/29/2023This doesn't feel like a school. There is police officers everywhere slamming students, and sirens going off at every transition (deafening). You would think we are a bunch of criminals, when we're simply here trying to get an education. Always on restricted movement which is annoying because why is one argument or fight causing the entire school to be on restricted movement the whole day. The teachers are good though.
Posted by a student on 4/7/2023This school has the Huntersville Police walk students out on a daily basis. This school hides behind their shrinking group of IB students/program to improve their reputation. Don't be fooled. The principal is failing her school and the students who show up every day. Time for new leadership is critical.
Posted by a parent on 4/26/2022My daughter is a junior and has reached out to her counselor several times with no response. Her teachers are responsive when emails are sent most of the time. The first question would I recommend this school I honestly don’t want to mark no because this school has a-lot of potential, great teachers, academics, etc. With the lack of communication in a critical time while a child is transitioning is a major concern.
Posted by a parent on 2/10/2022I am giving this a 2 because some of the staff is very nice. I am not sure when some of these reviews were but this is 2017 and this school is horrendous. I moved to Charlotte for a better life than in NY, my daughter deserves to be in a school that she does not fear her safety. All of my daughter's teachers have been nice to her, but as a whole, communication is terrible. She was supposed to get tutoring last year and all of a sudden it was cancelled for no reason and the front office didn't know anything about it. Over 20 times communicated with school about ConnectEd and access was not resolved. Children in the class do not care if their grades are low, there is no pride for good grades or studying or even being in class not being disruptive. After witnessing an incident at the school I can honestly say that some of what they did was done very well to break up the fighting, however, no follow through was made to dismiss children in a safe way at dismissal time on the day of the incident despite the administration telling me they would do so. This is an old campus with old buildings and there is no way in my mind that metal detectors can be put in - with as many fights that are happening almost every day, it is safe to assume there is major concerns that things can escalate to situations that will be beyond the school's control. Unless the students come home and say something, we are never advised what is going on in the school. It is a disgrace that this behavior is happening with teenagers every day. I understand fighting happens at school, but this is insane. After talking to graduates and other parents, I have confirmed that the school has not changed much since the riots occurred back in '05 or '06.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSend you child to another school!!! Principal gives a lot of lip service with no resolution and her staff follows her lead! I remember how awesome this school use to be, how it was before it was ran down! Please beware, if you have other options for school, I would choose the other option. If you are looking for a place that is actively seeking ways to help children, this school is not it! Don’t set your child up for failure!Parent Review2y ago
