Both of my sons have attended this school and have moved on to attend Piedmont Middle School. The teachers are caring and readily communicate with parents. They work hard to make the school day exciting. The administration is responsive and takes the time to get to know the students. I am not a parent that is swayed by school ratings and reviews. As a teacher, I know to use ratings as just one measure, when looking for schools.

If you are a parent I would run for the hills, this school, despite being a magnet school is obviously not challenging enough in their teaching given their low scores. Teachers struggle with basic content and most parents are having to do teaching offline if you’re stuck at this school. The magnet program is a joke, we tested into the program but it meets so infrequently it is of no help and is very unstructured. Additionally the principal and staff are terrible. We had an incident involving the bus drop off and instead of working with the parent and CMS transportation the principal noted the responsibility is between CMS transportation and the parents and was not helpful in working through the schools involvement in such activities. Be warned as we were previously told about CMS but if an incident arises not only will staff not be forthcoming but they will not take accountability to resolve the issue so future children will not have similar issue.

My experience with the teachers have been pretty good. However, I think the teachers are being "bullied" by the principal and are afraid to speak up for what is best for the student. I was warned by many people about CMS schools before enrolling my son in CMS Kindergarten year. I thought that was their own experiences and was willing to give CMS a chance. I am now looking to enroll in a charter school and hope to have a better experience where teachers are able to teach with proper resources and support.

Mostly bad. This school need more resources for its population. Or to better use their resources. In my opinion requirements that would assist in meeting the standards of CMS are unmet. Sure it's easy to focus on the smarter children magnet or not my child suffered academically and not because of a learning disability. Teachers need less student and more tolerance. They also need more flexibility to focus on each child and homework to be defined by the classwork. No school I would imagine is perfect neither is any one child but the mutual tolerance should be beneficial to all whom have a stake.

This school has been a magnet school of distinction for a few years now so they must be doing something right. The magnet program is great. Finally a principal that is involved and noticeable. Teachers do care
