Warrenton High School

My child is a freshman and has had a great experience. He is happy and feels challenged academically and athletically. We are happy with our switch from the local private school to Warrenton High School.

No school is perfect but I am completely happy with the education my daughter is getting at WHS. I firmly believe an education is every bit as much as the student's and parent's responsibility as it is the school and teachers'. All of my daughter's teachers are attentive to her when she has questions and open to discussion when I do. The environment in the school is no worse than any large school. There are drugs prevalent like any school and situations where my daughter has to make moral choices. I can only hope I am raising her right and she makes the right choices. That's on us as parents, not the school. The athletic programs are top notch and the district puts a lot of time, effort, and money into maintaining the buildings and grounds.

I couldn't agree more with the other comments made here!! The staff is COMPLETELY lacking when it comes to pushing kids to reach any kind of potential!! I watch my very intelligent daughter go from a 3.98GPA to a 2.5GPA in her freshman year after struggling with 2 of her classes. WE BEGGED THE SCHOOL AND TEACHERS TO TAKE ACTION AND HELP HER!! The reply we got was "well don't worry she has a 62% D-, so she will still pass as long as she holds a 60% or higher" NO CONCERN at all for her learning the material - just as long as they can pass her - that's all they cared about - not why she was struggling, not what might be happening that was causing this issue - NOTHING!!! If we could afford to move or get her into ANY other school we would, but finances prevent us from doing that. DON"T MOVE to Warrenton, MO if you have kids of school age because the elementary schools are not any better!!

If I could rate this high school lower than 1 star, I would. I currently have two children enrolled in this high school, and we are moving to put them into a better school. Both of my kids have been bullied at school, both report being exposed to drugs on a daily basis, and neither child is being encouraged to perform, just pass. This past winter we had multiple snow days, and to get them made up, the superintendent sent out a survey to the parents asking if their child would be able to attend a possible make up day. That is a perfect example of the total lack of leadership in this school. This school represents little more than teenager daycare. I can count on one hand the number of teachers that have EVER expressed any interest in the well being of either of my children or their academic success. The lack of recent rating is a result of most current students or recent graduates have had little or NO English composition training. I recommend finding another school for you high school aged children.
