N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current student at sion and I would NOT recommend this. I understand that KCMO does not have the best options for education, but if I had the choice I would move to Kansas to get a good public school education. The principle and assistance principle are not the best people. One year ago I was struggling with my mental health, I was in a bad situation and didn’t know what to do. One day I got into a disagreement with a boy in my class, and I was sent to the principle’s office. In the principle’s office I was yelled at by 5 of the staff, including the principle, assistant principal, school counselor, and 2 teachers. This was forever traumatizing to me, as I was in recovery from a bad stretch of social anxiety. Later that day I talked to the school counselor about the situation and how it made me feel. The counselor proceeded to tell the principal, and the principal forced me to got to the psych unit of the ER to get me ‘diagnosed’. This experience will forever haunt me and my family. One thing I want to add is that Sion does not buy period products for the girls, they guilt trip parents into buying the products to donate to the school. Overall I think that Sion is not a good environment for teens and preteens because of the staff. If you are considering Sion for your child DO NOT SEND THEM THERE. This is an honest review from a student who still attends Sion. It is not worth it.Student Review5mo ago - Academie Lafayette-Cherry

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had a few amazing teachers, otherwise I'd give this school one star. One teacher screamed at kids, made fun of them, and had this demeaning behavior chart on her board. Kids who were in the "green" all week got a prize. My child knew he struggled to sit quietly, so he was often in the "yellow" as were most of the boys. What boys sit quietly at 7 years old? Not many...After a particularly good week for him when he was green all week, he went to get his prize and she laughed at him in front of the class and told him to go away. He's a high schooler now and he still remembers how ashamed he felt that day.The emotional trauma your kid will experience isn't worth the language skills they'll pick up. Their written French will be so bad they'll still have to learn it all in a high school class anyways.Parent Review1mo ago - Citizens Of The World Charter

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen the administration changed it changed everything. Teachers leave after a year or two. Classrooms with unruly kids cause the well behaved to suffer and staff blames it on the child. Administrators speak with your children in parental ways without consent. Many teachers cause low self-esteem and major doubt in the child. Super strong parent involvement and they tend to listen to the parents via surveys and such. If only that were enough to change how children were treated (and I assume staff with their high turnover rates). The school had 3 p.e. teachers in one year. The good teachers don't stay. School was called off in 2022-23 at least 3 times because of plumbing, system alarms, and electricity. The school never had these issues in previous years.Parent Review8mo ago
