Ridge Park Charter Academy

We have had a very positive experience at this school.

My daughter has attended for two years and she has done really well so far. The teachers she has had seem to really take a liking to her and she enjoys going to school. She never complains about going to school. I feel like they try a lot of different activities to get your child interested in the work. The behavior system makes my child want to behave so she can come home and tell me what color she made it to for the day. I feel like the positive rewards the students receive for hard work make the students want to strive to do better to either earn a reward or continue to earn rewards. Ridge park is a good school so far no complaints.

It is So good and excellent school

My son's attended for 3 years, but they will not be returning. They had wonderful teachers, and I loved the honors class they had for the middle school, but the students behavior has really gone downhill and nothing is done about it. They also have a staff member at the school who should not be working with children, the way he talks to those kids is horrible. I brought this to the attention of the principal and nothing was done. It is a shame that the administration does nothing because the teachers, the least the ones my children had, we're excellent. That is the only thing I will miss.

Ridge Park is a Grand Rapids gem. With a strong focus on attracting first generation Americans, they are able to provide a very diverse and rich experience for my children. This is well-balanced by a sensible uniform (polo/khakis) policy that levels the socioeconomic playing field and allows kids to interact with each other simply as peers - with no preliminary judgments. All of the children appear to be respectful, kind, and eager to learn. Ridge Park staff work hard to ensure children of all learning abilities and levels receive the attention and challenges that they need. The year-round calendar also helps to improve retention from year to year (and simplifies the summer scheduling). I am proud to be a Ridge Park parent!
