Posted by a student on 9/25/2020JRLA has a great model. Although we have high expectations, realistically we can not meet them without the parents, students, and community support. As students come and go, our culture stays the same. Administration, teachers, and students are held responsible for their actions. Our mission at JRLA is for every scholar to graduate from college, where it takes them four, six, or nine years, every student will have the tools they need to succeed in college. We do this by strict coherence to Respect, Determination, Excellence, and Family. We create a culture for students to succeed through in school programs and activities, as well as free summer programs through colleges. Every scholar is given the opportunity to grow professionally if all classes are passed. Teachers are commented to the success of each scholar and gives more than class time to authenticate a loving and caring relationship with scholars. As leaders rapport is also important. JRLA instills leadership, respect, and discipline to enable our future leaders to thrive in today's society.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey don’t have enough resources for children who are in need of special education classes and children with special needs in general. The psychologist was only there one day of the week and some days she was there she didn’t always get to see the children. You can’t walk your child to class or do drop-ins to check on your child. There are not enough activities for the kids to participate in.Parent Review1y ago - Learning Links Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a bad experience at this school. i said it was bad because the teachers at this school didn't teach us right, and when students would ask for help the teachers would ignore them. I honestly never asked for help but when some people would ask to go to the restroom the teachers wouldn't allow them to go and would tell them to wait until we left. Parents were not pleased with the way this school was set and the was the teachers behaved. The students there where mischievous and didn't listen. The school was messed up and not taken care of. Windows where broken, bathroom stall doors missing, classroom doors where broken, there wasn't an actual gym or any sport classes. To top all of this off there was always wild life animals in the back of the school. For example there where deer's,bears, snakes, etc. The police where up to this school multiple times because of how students acted and this school was just unsafe and unhealthy. School served lunches where always cold and sometimes they would serve old or molded food to the students. I feel as if that all staff where acting this way was because they were getting paid 34,421 dollars. Because of this i feel that they didn't care about how the students where learning nor did they care about the students health. There was also no heat and there was a lot of fighting. The inside of the school was infected because there was a dead rat in the middle of three vents in the classrooms. There was a lot of bugs and there was a strong odor that wasn't every health to inhale. I highly recommend for not one parent to send there kids to a school like this unless you want your child coming home sick almost everyday or you want them to get hurt.Parent Review3y ago - Vernor Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's a great school and my daughter has improved greatly. I was really concerned with how much she had learned during the pandemic because I'm not a teacher but they found where she was academically and built from there and I'm so proud of her improvement. I can't thank them enough for how much care they have put into her education and into her character. It takes a village to raise a child and I'm so happy they helped me in raising her academically.Parent Review2y ago - Oak Park Service Learning Academy Opsla
