Read what parents are saying about Sanford High SchoolMy kids had a great experience in this school system!
Posted by a parent on 7/13/2023My son transferred to Sanford High School from a competitive private school and his experience has been excellent. His transition was made easy by the caring teachers and staff, the course options have been extensive and he is looking forward to a two year course in the technology center which will only enhance the likelihood of his getting accepted at the 4 year university of his choice after graduation. We could not be happier.

Posted by a community member on 2/28/2017As a student at Sanford High, I believe this school is decent, but is moving towards the wrong direction. The students, while some are smart, don't try. Many ignore work, and refuse to do some when asked. Students can easily skip courses, because teachers don't ask questions. The few that do, however, instantly become hated by the mass of students in the school. The recent technological integration isn't helping, but placing students farther apart from the schooling they should be getting. While all of this may be negative, the actual courses work. They teach you what you need to know, and can help you on your path to a career. Teachers are generally supportive of these courses, more so in Honors and AP courses, but still supportive, nonetheless. In all, I believe that with a new facility, this school's model and ability would thrive.
Posted by a student on 12/7/2013My school is an excellent school. It may have its flaws, but we are one of the few Regional Technical schools in Maine. We have our issues, our small lockers, and crowded hallways, but people genuinely enjoy learning at Sanford High School. We are due for a new school, which is coming soon, but in the meantime, students and teachers alike are striving to make this school last. Our school has decent security, but there are something's that should change. For example, the infamous "trail" should be marked off. But other than that I love my school and am proud to be called a Sanford Spartan.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school when I was a kid ( '83-'86) and have sooo many good memories of the staff and class mates. The princapal that was there in the '80's Mr.Gagne just retired at the end of last year so it shows the dedication that the staff have to the school and children. My oldest child has dyslexia and was in Biddeford schools untill the begining of this year- in that short of time her test scores have gone up quickly and she is super close to where she should be. The staff is always helpful and polite no matter the issue. I love this school and am planning to requset that my youngest gets transfered here for 1st grade next year!Parent Review11y ago - St Thomas Consolidated School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFar above average for this area, and slightly above average for the remainder of the country as private schools go - good for kids who like boundaries and like to learn. So far, most teachers are excellent, yet girls tend to get preferential treatment on behavior issues. Haven for conservative Catholics, so if your views vary a bit, or are based on logic and a growing religion, you'll be seen as an "outsider" but still can get a much better quality education than the area public schools. Most students seem respectful and well-boundaried. Girls tend to get away with tattling, and as always, these small communities tend to have rampant gossip so if you are new to the area or community, walk in with a thick skin. Good education, but very conservative religious views, a bit hypocritical but not beyond the typical conservative religious base. Female Principal is nice, but school is clearly run by male conservtive Catholics with very narrow chauvanistic views. Excellent security - the secretary does it all and takes very good care of your children. Just watch out for the gossip - it can be very unpleasant.Other Review12y ago - Sanford Christian Academy
