Read what parents are saying about Woodlawn High Center For Pre-Eng. Res.This school has been beautifully renovated. Administration is responsive and supportive. The principal is active and accessible. Woodlawn has a lot of hidden gems with new programs, sports teams, and staff. So much has improved here in recent years.
Posted by a parent on 7/14/2023I attended 10th-12th grade and graduated in 1996. All 3 years we were given the answers for the Maryland State tests. The test answers are multiple choice 1 finger was A, 2 fingers B and so on. I can't speak on what goes on there today however, now as a parent it's been a priority for my children not to attend Woodlawn Middle or high school based on my experiences. I wasn't prepared for college.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2013I attended Woodlawn for 10th- 12th grade. I graduated in 2005. In my opinion Woodlawn was not a good school. I transferred from a private school and a lot of what was being taught in the 10th grade there were things I learned in middle school. A number of students, more than expected, could not even read at a high school grade level. I honestly tried to get something out of it but they were behind. Learning about prepositions in the 10th grade is just wild to me. I hear they have gotten rid of a lot of the teachers and changed a lot with the curriculum. They really needed to. It's much better now supposedly.
Posted by a community member on 9/11/2013Woodlawn was a great experience for me. What I see is parents/guardians blaming adminstration and teachers for problems that students have. Woodlawn has always had a negative stereotype but was nothing like I've heard. The parents need to get more involved and build more positive relationships with staff to help all children succeed. I say stop complaining and help change. I have been successful since leaving Woodlawn and received a Maters degree. Woodlawn has some of the most caring and hardworking teachers in Baltimore County Pulic School system!!!
Posted by a parent on 9/10/2013I spent all four of my High School years at Woodlawn, graduating in 2007. I currently have a degree in Electrical Engineering from a top 20 University in Engineering. Woodlawn is about what you make of it. During long nights of studying in college, I would reminisce moments where my coach would say, "... how bad do you want it?" I remember teachers encouraging me to work-hard and focus because they recognized my potential before I could see it. Woodlawn taught me to be a leader and to never give up on my dreams!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely HATED that Child find sent my child here for pre-k! Absolutely worst school ever. I’d rather have my kids taught by wild wolfs than ever send one of my kids here again. The communication between school and parents is absolutely zero no communication at all!Parent Review3y ago - Featherbed Lane Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJohnnycake Elementary is a great school, I feel so sad that my twins have to leave the school, because they are going to middle school next year. they were there since Pre-K. I will missed the staff and the greatest teachers, specially Mr & Mrs Detwiler, they are EXCELLENT and LOVING teachers. I am so greatful about this school because my girls love them, and so do I. I think, words are not enough to appreciate the great job that they are doing with our kids. God bless all. I will miss all, and I am really sure that my girls too.Parent Review8y ago - Powhatan Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school size is good, and it is in a quiet neighborhood. I do believe staff are not motivated enough to encourage greatness in the students. I don't see a lot of behavior issues with students here. It is just extremely mediocre. I believe that the students would perform well with more challenges to compete, more after school activities, etc. There isn't much to write home about, concerning this school.Parent Review4y ago - Woodmoor Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you value your child's education, do not send them here. Starting with the previous administration, there became the pattern of a high turnover rate of teachers at this school which is concerning. Student behavioral problems have increased over the years without effective mitigation procedures and tactics. One can only deduce that the lack of support from the administration coupled with the growing need to control student behavior over teaching has led to teachers leaving this school at an alarming rate. The school has potential to be great, but needs a complete overhaul for the students who attend there.Other Review1y ago - Mays Woodson Christian Academy
