Relay Children's Center

This school is outstanding! The teachers and volunteer support is incredible, very hard working staff who truly cares about the kids learning. The school also has alot of after school hour events that the kids enjoy. Parent involvement is encouraged as you cannot expect the teachers to do everything. The teaching shows through with each kid’s progress, our son does incredibly well here.

My son was very shy and quiet in pre-K. His kindergarten experience here has made him so confident. He loves school now it’s been a wonderful experience! The PTA is really great and puts on a lot of fun activities the kids love to participate in. Really enjoying our time at AES!

The administrator went out of her way to ensure my very apprehensive kindergarten child was able to be escorted to class each day at the beginning of the school year. The team of teachers made sure to keep me abreast of his day and social interactions.

I was hesitant to send my child to any school in bcps because of the experiences of my older child. I've been very happy with Relay. Communication from the school to parents needs a lot of improvement. Most of the teachers are great and care about the students. I think the curriculum could be adjusted to challenge the higher level students more, but overall the facilities are great and it's a very nice school.

If your child requires absolutely NO additional support and/or is related to someone on the staff, you will have a great experience. Anything other than that and you can expect dismissive, disrespectful treatment that will always tilt toward getting rid of perceived ‘problems’. It’s a private school, so they can do that and will. If your child isn’t related to or has a close connection with a staff member, you better hope they never have a conflict with the MANY that do. The process of ‘expedited removal’ will happen quickly, trust me. An administrator told me in person in a meeting, “We just don’t have the resources to deal with kids who have ADHD. I think you’d be better served finding a school who can deal with that kind of ‘dysfunction’. We will pray for you though.” We removed him the next day, and he’s thrived elsewhere. Buyer beware.
