Juniper Park

We were concerned about Juniper School moving to Russell, and many others we knew pulled their children out to do school choice to Munger Hill or Highland. I am so glad that we took a chance and stayed. Our children were invested with their teachers, peers and they have been mostly really great. The principal Ms. Hamilton has done an outstanding job setting the tone and there is a positive, caring vibe. I like the Russell setting, it is rural, safe, and tranquil. There is good use of technology, a superb librarian. Our experience of the learning support here is mixed: even though we knew our child would have to have an IEP from preschool, it still took three years before it was assessed and awarded...and one not so good teacher wasn't even aware of it until we complained. If you are willing to keep on top of it and advocate fiercely for your child, you will probably be okay...I think this experience is not unique to Russell but happens in any Westfield school. Overall, if you are willing and able to drive your child the 10-15 minutes out to attend this school if you don't live in the bussing catchment area, it is a good choice...small but safe.

Well, in my opinion this school has surpassed my expectations. As a Father I worry about my sons education but both the teachers and the principal have shown me that they do their jobs well. I congratulate them all. I am very happy with this school and my sons have learned more than I had expected. I am very thankful to all of you for doing such a good job with my boys. Thank you

This school has exceeded our expectations. The current principal, is responsive and enthusiastic, and she seems driven to keep improving. The reader and math programs have been a perfect fit for our child. We are happy with the teachers they are all superstars.
