Read what parents are saying about St. Bernard Central High SchoolI went there in the past. It has incredible academics, electives, and extracurricular activities. All the faculty and staff learn, then know your name, they are compassionate to each students unique home-life, and are accepting, as Christ would be. I am forever grateful of both the knowledge and wisdom I received while in the books, at my desk, walking the halls, and on the field.
Posted by a student on 6/19/2013I am an alum of STB as well as a parent of a junior at the school. My 2 older children graduated from STB in 2011 and 2008. STB provides an outstanding education which prepares students for the college experience. Both of my older children thanked us for sending them to St. Bernard's when they got to college. They were thankful for the preparation they received at STB as many of their college peers were struggling with college level work. They were very appreciative of the study habits they formed in their high school years as a result of the requirements of their teachers. The environment at STB is friendly and caring. The kids take care of each other. The parent community is friendly, fun and supportive. I would highly recommend ST. Bernard's High School!
Posted by a parent on 5/19/2013As a parent of a freshman in 2012, I am very happy with this school. Academics are rigorous. There is a variety of activities to choose from. The staff and faculty are responsive. The athletic programs are well-run and there is a nice sense of community within this school. Tuition is reasonable as well compared to other like schools.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter has been at this school for two years. She is truly not gaining anything by being at South Street other than a participation award. We have reached out to her teachers regarding concerns we have and get nowhere. There's no communication or parent involvement. There isn't a lot of extracurricular activities. For any events (like a school dance or if there's a book fair) there's very short notice. There is more focus on behavioral issues than education. Fitchburg is definitely a low income city and there are a lot of parents who don't care about their children's behavior which definitely reflects on how the teachers run their classrooms. There's a focus on the kids flipping desks over and swearing and no focus on the kids that are trying to learn. I hope the changes work in the future but we removed our children based on a number of disagreements. My 3 year old is learning his whole alphabet and can tell me what each letter is by sight and what it sounds like! My daughter is in kindergarten and she loves school. She is learning to read and can't wait to go to school each day. I love their strong Christian values and care for my kids. Their extended care program is great. My kids cry if I pick them up early.
