Read what parents are saying about North Central Charter Essential Schoolhorrible teachers dont care... besides some.... clearly dont think before for what teachers they bring in
Posted by a student on 4/15/2021Overall, a good experience and very supportive of students. It is a small school that fosters personal growth well. Due to its size, it can't offer every elective or sport. However, it does a really good job with what it does offer and works with the local college to offer advanced courses.
Posted by a parent on 4/19/2018I was so happy when my son was accepted, as a few people I know loved the school, but I was completely disappointed and I am so concerned by the rapid turnover of the staff and the complete lack of teaching skills with a majority of the staff. They have no idea how to write a proper IEP or work with students who do not fit into the perfect student model. The majority of students that are disciplined are the SPED and Poor kids. http://profiles.doe.mass.edu/ssdr/default.aspx?orgcode=04740505&orgtypecode=6&leftNavId=12565&TYPE=SCHOOL&fycode=2014 The stats say it all. Don't send your kid here if you want to keep your sanity.
Posted by a parent on 5/2/2015I am very disappointed with NCCES. They talked a good talk at the initial information presentation. I was so impressed I couldn't wait for my kids to start there. Unfortunately, nothing they promised actually happened. What happened to "if the student gets a bad grade, we don't just let it go, we have them take the test over and over until they understand the material and get a good grade?" That never happened. Both of my kids are facing summer school for the first time ever and it's for portfolio - where those great grades are supposed to be. Obviously, they were not made to redo things if they don't have enough good work in their portfolios. I will admit that it is much easier to make contact with teachers and staff at NCCES than with FHS and that's a plus, but I definitely don't think my children received the education they were promised.
Posted by a parent on 5/21/2014North Central Charter Essential School has such a terrific, dedicated staff. My grandson wasn't doing well emotionally in another school, and no one was helping him. NCCES has made an incredible difference in his growth and development and I am so pleased. I also have a foster daughter attending NCCES and she hated school before attending this one. Her grades have gone way up and she has not once said she didn't want to go to school, since she enrolled here. Thank you staff.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCrocker has an amazing group of staff members who care about the child. They practice good attitude and contributing ideas, time, etc to improve not only the student, but the school and the community. If a parent we're to ever be concerned with their child's performance (attitude, homework, involvement, class work, etc) parents can reach the teacher and within 2 days speak to the teacher over the phone or face to face to find out what's going on. The teacher's allow children to attend "help me" classes if they feel the student needs more one on one attention. My daughter loves the teachers she has had, but loves her specials teachers and the assistant teachers.Parent Review8y ago - Fitchburg High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter has been at this school for two years. She is truly not gaining anything by being at South Street other than a participation award. We have reached out to her teachers regarding concerns we have and get nowhere. There's no communication or parent involvement. There isn't a lot of extracurricular activities. For any events (like a school dance or if there's a book fair) there's very short notice. There is more focus on behavioral issues than education. Fitchburg is definitely a low income city and there are a lot of parents who don't care about their children's behavior which definitely reflects on how the teachers run their classrooms. There's a focus on the kids flipping desks over and swearing and no focus on the kids that are trying to learn. Students are being influenced to succeed.Parent Review5y ago - St Bernards Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had a wonderful experience at this school. We have a new principal who has accomplished so much in her first year! She is very approachable and open to new ideas. Our children are held to a high standard which will help them to succeed later in life. The teachers expect a lot from the children but are always available for extra help if need be. There is a huge sense of community at this school. The kids are taught charity, respect and responsibility. My kids get excited to help others. They love being involved in different activities including sports, drama, and student council. We are so glad we made the choice to send our children here.Parent Review8y ago - St. Joseph School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNew administration has started in 2017. A lot of change that families are struggling with. I hope the changes work in the future but we removed our children based on a number of disagreements. In the end, it was the best choice since we are still having issues with tuition reimbursement from the school.Parent Review7y ago - Twin City Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy two kids go here and they are loving it! My 3 year old is learning his whole alphabet and can tell me what each letter is by sight and what it sounds like! My daughter is in kindergarten and she loves school. She is learning to read and can't wait to go to school each day. I love their strong Christian values and care for my kids. Their extended care program is great. My kids cry if I pick them up early.
