Read what parents are saying about Fern Creek Elementary SchoolI was bullied and told to go back to the school I came from when I reported it to then, assistant principal and now principal, Rebecca Nicolas
Posted by a community member on 7/16/2020My child had mild success because has a strong culture at home and a decent teacher, but listening to that awkward principal speak to parents was a drag. Then to find out all the inappropriate things happening at Fern Creek really blew my mind. I am not sure the culture of JCPS is ready to change.
Posted by a parent on 2/27/2019Great at first but more recently it has been a poor experience.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFirst of all, the disciplinary enforcement is very inconsistent. It seems like that the students who are more disobedient are the ones who get the most chances to correct themselves. Instead, it should be the students who behave themselves but sometimes make mistakes cause we’re all human who should receive grace. For instance, I got in trouble my sophomore year because I was on my phone checking my grades. No one created the phone rule because students were checking their grades. The phone rule was created because students were on social media and other things that weren’t school related. This year, my junior year, I got 3 demerits and an after school detention because an ESPN video on my phone accidentally went off without me even touching my phone. I tried talking to get my punishment taken away but they told me that even though I’ve done nothing, I’m still responsible for my phone. Second of all, the teachers cannot teach. I’ve got a teacher who talks for 45 minutes straight every morning when we should be doing more activities to learn. I’ve got another teacher who teaches very slow. We’ve got twelve chapters in our textbook and we’re only in chapter 3 going into the month of April. Another teacher is super inefficient in how he teaches. We spent 45 minutes doing an escape room just to get 10 definitions when he could’ve just given that to us straight up and we could’ve focused on something more important. Another teacher that I have cannot teach. I am having to go on Khan Academy and do their class course in order to study for my AP Exam in May. No one understands the content. I’ve learned more from Khan Academy than this teacher. Also, there is a ton of drama at this school. It is a very small school and gossip goes around very easily. Another issue is that teachers aren’t held accountable. The teacher who gave me demerits for my phone is a little hypocritical. My phone went off without me touching my phone and it happened to him two days later. I expect that teachers hold themselves to the standard that they set their students to. This is completely unacceptable.Student Review3w ago
