I have attended ECHS for a little over a semester, in just that short amount of time I have witnessed bigotry, racism, and a general lack of putting education first. This school is ran like a prison, students are searched, there are drug dogs brought into the school and parking lots, some may believe this is a great effort into stopping drug use. I agree to an extent that teen drug use is a problem to face in schools given true probable cause though I do not believe it should be placed over education. When there is already limited funding in place, we have battered, decades old textbooks yet the school finds money to fund drug testing and buy new flat screen televisions. Not to mention the general mindset of the staff and students this school feels as though you step into a time machine and are attending school in the 1960s, I have witnessed students being brutally racist and homophobic with no repercussion. They have a “bullying program” in place that has met twice in the entire time i’ve been at this school. The public school system is in place to educate the youth and create meaningful members of society, in this environment I do believe my peers and myself fight all odds stacked against the student body to succeed this is reflected in the poor amount of college readiness once leaving this high school. Overall this small-minded school has given me the worst public education experience yet, and i’ve attended 3 high schools. If you have any option at all I would recommend you choose a more qualified school that is interested in the growth and success of their student body.

This rating is so sad for me to see. I graduated there 55 years ago when the poverty level was more like 85-90 percent, I didnt even have water in our house, YET, I graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati BECAUSE of the great teachers I had and the discipline we had in the 60s. Its sad to see everything is AVERAGE. I suppose it oculd be worse, but we were taught not to only be AVERAGE to be ABOVE average in everything we tried to do. I am sorry to hear the little high school I attended in the 60s is only AVERAGE now. John Dossey Cincinnati Ohio (Class of 1964)
