Read what parents are saying about Leilehua High SchoolA great school for education and preparedness for college or career.Had two sons attend this school and one was accepted to West Point and the other earned a BS degree at a private college.Leilehua was diirectly responsible for offering the education that these boys applied themselves to.I don't know about the "equity" rating because I think demanding equity over offering complete equality to everyone is blatantly racist.
Posted by a parent on 2/13/2022I graduated Leilehua in 2013 and my years spent there were fantastic. I learned a lot, the teachers and staff were friendly, there were hardly any fights, and everyone seemed to get a long very well. The only negative thing I would say about this school is that even with all of the awards their art classes win they don't put a lot of funding into them. They like to focus on their sports teams.
Posted by a student on 4/5/2017My years in Leilehua were good ones. Teachers are great, bullying is almost none existent (I have not witnessed any), strong sense of community, many extracurricular activities (outside of school as well), and great athletic department. My complaints: their is not a diverse range of classes, science department is lacking (learned little during 10th and 11th grade), and school class locations is unorganized eg: english class in science wing (this has been continuing to improve over the years however). Highlights: Again, great teachers who really care about us students, strong math, history, language arts, and everything else departments; the student in student athlete is emphasized (many opportunities to catch up on work such as SMARTS nights, tutoring, etc so no excuses fellow students!), opportunities in discovering many different cultures; and last but not least, EXCELLENT avid teachers who push you to do your best and to make the effort to get into college, earn scholarships, and making a better out of students in general -KH

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur children have been here for two years now, and we have had very mixed experiences. The teachers are wonderful. Both our kids have had absolutely amazing teachers who truly care about helping students learn and excel. However, the administration is a disaster. The enrollment process is ridiculous, and we received conflicting information every time we spoke to someone in the main office. There was no clear pathway to get them enrolled, which resulted in a 6 week wait before our kids could start their school year after our PCS. The conflicting information has continued the entire time we have been here, making it incredibly difficult to navigate our children’s’ education. Any time we have called the office, the person we need to speak to is always somehow out. Even though they promise to relay our message, and it never happens. We never receive calls back as promised, and the school secretaries always act as if it is an incredible burden to assist us. In this respect, I would give the school zero stars if I could. They lost my son’s entire medical record, with all of his PII, and offered no explanation other than a shoulder shrug. They then explained that we would need to replace the information immediately so he could continue attending. The only thing we dislike about our assignment is Wheeler Elementary, and for that reason alone, I would be willing to cut our tour here short. We’ve dealt with five different school systems throughout our childrens’ education, and it is truly unfortunate how abysmal the school administration is at this school.Parent Review2y ago - Wahiawa Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis will be out third year attending this school it's bigger and a lot of students. They do not try to individually assess each student, but make basic assumptions that something is wrong within the household. They prioritize attendance before the well being of the student 14 excused absences with doctors note prompted a meeting including a child services/children's court worker. Mind you my son got sick from school, he caught covid and also the flu within the same month.Parent Review6mo ago - Kaala Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat, inclusive school with lots of extracurricular options including for the younger grades, which is uncommon. Staff is super dedicated and encourage parent involvement. During COVID, they’ve been super accommodating to different families’ needs and offer a variety of options from hybrid schedules to 100% distance learning. They really made an effort to be flexible and still find ways to connect with the students. Cant say enough good things about this school!Parent Review3y ago - Helemano Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMililani Ike is such a friendly school. The teachers are great and the office staff are very helpful. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. The school encourages family involvement and my children enjoy going to school each day. People move to Mauka just to have their children attend this school.Parent Review2y ago - Abundant Life School
